Notes~
Luden's Spike is named for the shape of it's Red/orange roots, resembling the weapon of the Luden, a mythological race of fae-like creatures from the Julth's legends regarding the birth of the world. This plant can be found growing in nearly every seasonally arid climate on the planet, aside from coastal salt marshes.
Each limb of this plant grows a pair of leaf-bearing limbs at the end of winter. During particularly dry seasons, these may not grow in until late-to-mid summer. These will always grow in pairs, each individual branch has genetic variation from its's partner, and have been known to be from entirely different instances of Luden's Spike. The female flowering bodies consist of a blue trumpet-like structure housing a single pistil, and are around 3-5 cm in length. Male flowering body has no flowerlike structure, opting for a "pinecone" type shape, covered in small hair-like stamen.
The roots for which the plant is named are a staple part of diets throughout the planet, being similar to beets and potatoes. This is also the primary source of bright orange dye.
