This one won't really make any sense to 99% of my watchers, but I felt like drawing it anyway. There's a general election coming up in Britain, and all politicians standing for election wear a rosette in their party's colours while they're campaigning. I don't know why, but it's traditional, and we like tradition over here.
One day, Zee-Zee was trying to persuade his daddy to stop watching the boring news and come play with him, when he noticed the people on the TV wearing those really cool rosette things. So he persuaded Daddy to help him make some of his own!
Now, Zed firmly believes that parents should scrupulously avoid projecting their own political beliefs onto their children, but on the other hand, if he can avoid Zee-Zee going around with a blue rosette, it'd prevent a lot of embarrassment if his family back in England saw pictures...
(Shortly after this, Zena "finds" the blue ribbon and gives Zed a stern glare - "And anyway, we have different color schemes in the USA nowadays, honey, so if you're gonna dress him up like a politician, might as well dress him in blue!")

Explains a lot. Of course, there are quite a few British parties that use gold so we're stillin the dark about which party Zee-Zee's daddy actually supports...

Heehee, I would have said that the SNP and Plaid Cymru were yellow rather than gold, but I suppose Wikipedia knows best. But anyway, they only have candidates in Scottish and Welsh constituencies respectively - Zed's subconsciously turning Zee-Zee into a little Liberal Democrat.
I have the idea, for some reason, that Zed's family have a long tradition of being really hardcore socialists, who idolised Arthur Scargill and Neil Kinnock but switched allegiances to the Lib Dems when Tony Blair took over the Labour Party. I've probably put too much thought into this... ^.^
Zed, though, doesn't really take more than an academic interest in British politics now that he's a permanent resident/naturalised citizen/whatever of the USA/Canada/Zee-Zee-Land/wherever he lives (I actually wrote "USA" in the description field up there, which I normally avoid doing - I was writing it in a hurry on my lunch break ^.^)

Awww I understand Zed's feelings (I'm making and Orange one myself!), but like Zena said they use different colours in the United States (or its Zee-Zee Land equivalent) so maybe they can pretend it relates to Unitedstatesian politics. Especially if Zed's family knows only just a little bit about his adopted country...
One, hasn't really done too much yet it looks like.
Two, rather than cutting the amount of troops like he promised in his campaign, he's sent even more over to the middle east.
Three, he's supposed to be the face of the country and with all the problems springing up in the whitehouse he's making America look like a joke. Course then again most of that stuff is coming from the National Enquirer so who knows how accurate that may be?
Don't get me wrong now that I'm racist. I'm glad we finally have a minority president, I just think we could've gotten a better one.

This is why you should never post pictures with a political theme - it only starts arguments ^.^
For the record, I think Ri's points one and two are very good ones (don't know what you're referring to with point 3 - I would guess that the National Enquirer's reports haven't been picked up by any media outside the US ^.^), but I think of the two potential presidents to choose from, Obama was the only sensible choice.

Cute, but jeez do I ever hate politics xD both sides are full of stupid people, and no matter who get's a hold of the majority somethings going to go wrong, look at us in the US, first we get Bush, that had it's own set of problems. An now we have Obama, and guess what? He has a whole OTHER set of problems, there's just no winning in the game of politics :p
*giggle* It's not really all that different over here - in fact, US politics is better in a way, because there you get the choice between, well, not good vs evil, but at least evil vs not-quite-so-evil.
We've basically got a two-and-a-half-party system with two big parties that have literally identical policies and just oppose each other because they both want to be in charge, and a useless third party that holds 10% of the seats in Parliament but never really gets to influence anything...
I'm talking about politics too much today. Yay pretty colours! *bats ribbons around the room*

KAZOOTLES! Who would've ever thought such a simple pic could earn such a bevy of unique discussion?
After reading the story you put to this, coupled with all the commentary, I must say politics is indeed a most scary thing. Primarily because of how fired up people can become with it.
In the instance of our ever-so-clever squirrel, he only wants to go out and have some fun. However, with how heated certain individuals can get, even his innocence of just playing pretend election could get people buzzing.
On that note, one could actually make a fine movie / book based on this pic you cleverly put together. The theme being to show how, as we grow, we tend to lose sight of the simple things and tend to take certain matters a little too seriously. Through young Zee-Zee, we learn (re-learn actually) that some things aren't worth getting all huffy about while rediscovering the joy of understanding and respecting everyone's unique opinion. :)
