U.S. Job Corps- A student's Perspective (Non-fiction)
I've been going thru this school for a while and I wonder if my journals are going to reach the people who actually need the information to make an educated decision on whether or not it will work for them. I gotta say all things considered for most people I don't recommend it, for the reasons contained herein, however I'm not about to outright say this program can do no good.
If you are a U.S. Resident between the ages of 16 and 24, and aren't sure what you're going to do with your life because of poverty, homelessness and so on, Job Corps may be something that can help you. But if you're in that same age bracket and doing alright, maybe not great but you're not in debt at least, then be careful because it has equal potential to hurt those who have other options.
Feel free to ask questions either here, or thru notes. Be warned, that because of Job Corps internet usage restrictions, there is a fair chance that FA could get banned. If I am unable to answer, I will try and have a friend check in on this post in particular to relay any questions to me, and they answer in my place.
Background information about me:
I'm 24 years old, 3 months into Job Corps as a Carpenter, looking to graduate around November and gain entry into an Electricians Apprenticeship. I have my Diploma, and a drivers license, and 4 years of work experience in various states and job titles. I both chose Job Corps and was forced to when my cars broke down in September and I ran out of savings trying to stay alive. I have no family still alive that I can go to, so no one can give me a financial boost. I'm on my own, and I needed help.
