Arundinetum XXVI. It was simple, largely feudal jungle planet in the eastern fridges of the realm of Ultramar. Output and tithe standard for a world of its type, with little known conflict, bar the odd threat of feral orks from within the jungles, a foe that the local PDF regularly defeated. But not all was right upon the jungled orb. Reports filtered out of secret cults, rebel movements and much worse. Indeed, local PDF forces were crippled by world-wide revolts and uprisings. Ultramar Auxilia regiments rerouted from neighbouring worlds proved sufficient to route rebel forces, till the tides of war turned upon its head. Reports filtered in to sector command of rebel forces possessing weapons of immense power, strong enough to destroy Imperial Armour and pulversize fortifications.
Lead elements from an Ultramarine strike force arrived on planet, analysing the situation and terminating rebel leadership in a series of swift strikes. The situation was revealed to be far worse than anticipated: Far from being a mere colony world, Aruninetum XXVI possessed large caches of Necron warmaterial underground, caches that the rebels were more than happy to put to use. Worst still, their tampering had begun to waken the munitions ancient guardians from their slumber, threatening to throw the war into a devastating three way conflict. Swift and decisive action by Ultramarine strike forces ensured that the necron and rebel forces were both vanquished, but not without cost. Of the squads sent to destroy the Necron control relays, there was but one survivor: Felix Faustus, his right arm blackened and burnt, armour rendered and split from the force of the exploding control panel.
In the swift clean up operations that followed, it was decided that a new chapter should be founded upon Arundinetum XXVI, a bulwark against any future alien threat seeking access to the supplies locked within it. Command of this guard passed to the Honoured Faustus, and with these guardians, he did reforge the ancient world with his new chapter: Deducticius Miles.
Rejecting the belief of the Sons of the wolves or the children of the Angel that Horrors breed Strength, the new found Chapter has done much to improve the state of their world. Divisions and damage from the revolt have been rapidly repaired, the jungles and the feral ork menace within it pushed back, forced onto the defensive. Trade with local forge worlds, their tech priests eager to gain access to the plethora of Xenos war-material on planet has allowed for an unprecedented level of Industrialisation and growth, transforming the world from a mere medieval backwater, to an up and coming Industrial world within its own right.
Yet even with such growth, the chapter has not forgotten its origins. If anything, they have only intensified as the centuries have past. Numerous settler fleets have come forth from Macragge and the other worlds of Ultramar, the excesses populations form such worlds quickly becoming the new elites and founders of countless Coloniae across the planet, creating a world that revers both its Imperial protectors, and those from which their protectors stemmed. As a consequence of this, high levels of civic patriotism weave throughout Arundinetum XXVI's society; indeed, the highest honour a family can hope for is for one of their sons, or daughters, to be inducted into the ranks of their proud protectors.
In many ways the Deducticius Miles are but Ultramarines in all but name, their tactics, organisation, indeed many of their rites and traditions are copied wholesale from that of their parent chapter; The history of Macragge, and the great works of its poets and artists remain key areas of discussion and debate for the warriors of the chapter.
My tactical marine that I play in Deathwatch, albeit pre-death watch days.
