The Mystery of Caketropolis Demo is out now!
Sadly I only have a PC version of the game available and do not have the means to create a mac or linux version.[/center]
And if you're interested in keeping up to date with the project, or want to join our community, or if you feel if you have the skillset to help out certain part of the project that needs helping (notably human art assets), you can join our public Caketropolis Discord server here - https://discord.gg/N79fquW
Make sure you read the rules though. That's super important of course.
Oh yeah, I do have my own website now. Which is pretty neat.
EDIT: Alpha demo has been removed in preparation of the game's full release.

I just played the demo and I have to say this is impresive !
The characters are well written, the story is super interesting and there are plenty of jokes that made me smile or laugh in a way I wanted to play again and start booping/liking every single element in the game !
This is a really cool project, congratulations and keep it up ! Creating a game has always been a long journey, but the demo trully shows the passion that animates you to make it !

Thanks for playing the demo! I'm glad that people are enjoying simply walking around and interacting with the environment. That stuff in particular is extremely time consuming to implement. And yeah, I'll keep the project going for sure. There are many hurdles ahead and I can only hope I'll be able to overcome them.
I had a friend repackage it without the custom encryptions. Unfortunately neither of us have Linux machines to be able to reliably test to see if this version works, but here it is. Good luck.

Awesome: The game loads and I can actually get through the intro sequence just fine! It's after it says "Now loading..." that there's an error, apparently due to a missing file:
Failed to load: img/parallaxes/!RimsDen-LeftRoom-Bottom-Day1.png
The directory www/img/parallaxes is indeed empty, as are many others. I'm assuming this might be a packaging issue and the exporter forgets to include some assets.
If it's not asking too much: Can you check if there's a way to solve all missing file cases? Especially since I've gotten this far and the game runs, I'd really like to try it out now

Gave it a try today, gorgeous and adorable game so far! If this becomes a full game it will be one of the best in the fandom I'm sure.
I'm running into an issue which I'd be shocked if it were related to the Linux version, but asking just in case: When I talk to Enforcer Maggis I'm told I need to show her an item then the prompt says to use G to interact using an item. This works on other objects however it doesn't work on her (although talking with Space does). Thus I can never give her the item and advance! Any thoughts on what could be causing that?

Thank you for playing. I'm glad you've found value in what I've done so far. A shame you had to run across a game breaking bug near the end of the demo.
What you came across, I just checked, looks like a bug I overlooked while I was making recent changes to the demo. In the original demo the interact button was the [S] key, but I changed it to [G] to allow for WASD movement. Seems like I forgot to change the interact key for that NPC.
I'm not certain if this will fix it, but if you set the keyboard config to default in the options menu (turning off WASD movement), and manually keybind the interact button to [S], it might work? Just as a temporary measure. Otherwise, I'll have do make a hotfix, which might reset your save data if you made one.

Got through the whole demo fine thanks to your help with fixing game-breaking bugs earlier. This is a really sweet and beautiful game with lots of potential, I'm eager to see the next update! Since I wanted to help more I've made a list of all the notable bugs I've come across:
- If you choose the negative path and enter the building earlier than you've been allowed to, you get the cutscene where the manager is surprised at you entering. Afterward when Rim tries to leave the building, the person tells him to wait for one more thing. Upon continuing after this message, the game pauses forever, as if another dialog was supposed to come but never does. I waited for almost a minute but nothing would happen and it didn't unfreeze either.
- Some key items don't disappear from your inventory after you give them to folks. Others seem to be in your inventory without any background as to how they got there.
- The text exceeds the box size and gets cut off on the right side for some dialogs. Here's an example screenshot of such a case: https://i.imgur.com/qd0EsbI.png
- After pressing F to interact with an object, you sometimes automatically get the prompt for interacting with an item as if you pressed G. Wasn't sure if this is a bug or intentional, but it feels overhand so maybe it can be disabled especially where not needed.
- Some generic objects (such as big trees and lamp posts) don't have the option to interact with them by using F while most do. This is a really insignificant one, just thought I'd point it out for conformity's sake.
P.S. It's rarer for me to find a dragon inherently cute and cuddly of all things, especially ones that aren't based on chibi cartoon anatomy. Rimentus found a way to do that though, he's always just adorable

Glad you enjoyed the demo and appreciate your comments. Yeah, shame the linux version is abit janky atm as that version was made in the midst of me implementing new things into the full game (the PC version of the demo uses [A] and [S] for interacting, no keyboard config option, and a few other things), but at the very least, glad you were able to make it to the end of the demo, which was my main goal. Stuff like interacting with trees and lamppost were present in the PC demo but i must've forgotten to re-add them into the linux one.
In either case, thanks for listing the bugs. I can definitely check them out and make the necessary fixes.
