The pair finally goes back into their room, after going back to town and collecting their reward from the guild. The lynx gathering as much courage as he can as he finally speaks.
"Zack, I have something to confess."
"What's up?" the wolf responds, still busy on changing to less adventurous clothing, his back currently turned on the lynx as.
"I, uh... like you." The lynx replies, slightly quivering while trying to maintain his composure.
"I like you too" the wolf replies back, his tone unchanged, as if it's a normal conversation to him.
The lynx, becomes slightly worried and agitated over the lack of emotion to the voice of his comrade. He knows that the wolf doesn't really express much emotion at all but the fear of rejection has his thoughts completely messed up.
"I mean, I really... like you. I... love you." He repeats once more, hoping that a more direct approach would help him show his point across.
"I really like you too." The wolf says calmly, finally finishing whatever he was doing.
As the wolf was turning around, he suddenly feels two paws grabbing his cheeks pulling him gently towards the lynx's muzzle, his eyes widen as their lips finally meet. The lynx's paws were shaking, eyes closed, an expression of both fear and determination written on his face.
About half a minute passes as the lynx suddenly opens his eyes and releases the wolf, jumping back, horrified by his own actions.
"I-I'm so sorry! I didn't know wh-"
The wolf stops him mid-sentence, again their lips meet, albeit much shorter then the last one.
"As I said, I really like you too." The wolf says once again, before leaving the dumbfounded lynx all alone as he goes down to get dinner.
