The dog looked back at the home, the family inside laughing and loving eachothers company, but as always... left out in the cold of winter, his stomach growled as he looked over at his empty food bowl. He layed down and shivered, feeling his strength continue to slowly weaken and layed his head down, closing his eyes. Before too long, the dogs ears perk up and he raises his head, looking up and seeing a creature fly down to him. "... w... who are you...?" the dog asked.
"I'm here to take you away from here... I'm here to take you home." The angelic creature got down on one knee and began to pet the canine softly. "... You've been neglected for far too long... This is not the kind of place for you.." The angel folded his wings back as he reached over, removing the collar from the canine that was attached to a chain in the yard.
"Why... why did they leave me out here...? I thought they loved me." the canine looked back at the house, whimpering as his tail drooped down. "Did I do something wrong...?"
"No. You did nothing wrong. They just didnt deserve you in the end... I'm here to fix that." The creature reached down and gently picked up the canine. As he cradled the dog, the canine looked down, noticing his body still lying there, the chain and collar still connected to him. "... Am... I dead...?"
"Yes... Unfortunately these humans can be cruel at times... but please do not worry... do not be sad... I'm taking you to a much better place..." He spoke softly before looking upwards, holding onto the canine as his wings spread, they began to fly up into the heavens. After awhile, they reached their destination among the clouds. The angel set the canine down and he sniffed around. Suddenly his tail shot straight up as he recognized a scent. He looked around frantically before seeing a familiar sight. It was his previous family... a mother, a father and a son who tragically passed away in a car crash 2 years previously. "REX?! IS THAT YOU?! COME HERE, BOY!!!" The young child screamed happily as he ran to the canine, the canine rushing towards him. He tackled the child and started licking his face frantically, his tail wagging as he was reunited with his friend.
"Welcome home, Rex..."
I couldnt help but write this thanks to coming to the realization of what this song was about. I broke down and cried after realizing it, and... I wanted to do a small story for it. I posted the song and the lyrics as well so you can understand it better. I know my writing isnt that great, but I hope this makes you feel SOMETHING... I can at least say I managed to do my job, then.
