Cinnamon Apple Pie
Pie Crust Recipe:
There are all kinds of recipes for pie crust you can use, try different ones for different textures and flavors! :D
I used this one as the basis for my crust - https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recip.....ect_pie_crust/
Ingredients:
2 Large apples, peeled and sliced
1 tsp of all purpose flour
1/4 cup of water
1/4 stick of unsalted butter, cut into pads
3 1/2 tbsp of cinnamon
1/2 tsp of nutmeg
1/2 cup of sugar
1 tsp of cinnamon (to sprinkle on top crust)
Utensils and supplies needed:
Fork
Parring knife
Apple Corer/Slicer
Pie Pan or Pyrex Cooking Dish
Cutting board
Butter knife
Handheld Mixer or Food Processor
Measuring cups and spoons
Mixing bowl
Preparation and Cooking:
If you're using a recipe for a pie crust from scratch, make sure its already mixed and placed in your pan. If you're using a pre-made crust, place it in your pan while you prep the apples.
First, wash your apples and dry them with a hand towel or paper towels. If you'd prefer to peel them before slicing, do so. I usually like to use my corer/slicer and then peel the individual sections and cut out any remaining core. Once your apples are complete peeled and sliced, sprinkle them with a little lemon juice to keep them from turning brown. Then place your apples into the fridge!
Next, in your large mixing bowl combine you cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and flour. Mix thoroughly with a fork and set aside. While you're doing this, ready your oven! You want to preheat the oven to 450 degrees and place a cookie sheet in as soon as you turn it on. This is for placing the pie on top of in the event that it should bubble over. Now that your oven is preheating, you can start filling your pie crust!
In you large mixing bowl with the dry ingredients, toss in your apples. Shake and stir until the apples are coated, and then place them into your crust. Once you've done this, add in your pads of butter, make sure some of them get to the bottom. Once the apples and butter are cozy in the crust, add in your water.
Now all that's left is putting on your top crust! Once you've got the top crust on, pinch the edges along the pan to make sure its sealed. Then take a fork and poke in several spots to allow some air to escape while cooking.
Now its ready for the oven! Once your oven is preheated to 475 degrees, place the pie in for 10 minutes. After ten minutes of baking at 475, lower the temperature to 375 and bake until the crust is golden brown and the apples are soft. Let cool for 10 minutes and serve!
Enjoy with either ice cream or whipped cream! :D
