Have you ever had a powerful dream that felt like it meant something? I once dreamed that a fox grew a forest full of dead animals in my childhood bedroom. This dream was the product of the black fox Ivan, who frequently visits me when I sleep. Especially when I am feeling blocked in life. In almost every dream, he bites my hand. A bite which I have come to think of as empowerment. A bit of pain to snap me out of my mind and make me realize that I can make it through and survive whatever life has in store. He is my silent, intense guide when I am feeling my most weak.
Desperation has helped me become clever, pain has taught me to be more wise, and dreams opened me to possibilities through symbolism Whenever strife has left me feeling blocked, I think of the gift of the fox teeth that snap me into action. It is often through pain, and dreams, where we find our best selves.
