Church found pirate wandering around as a wee baby who only just opened her eyes. Fed her scraps for a few weeks and tried to get her close enough to take her to the local doctor to see if she was okay. Eventually Pirate realized he wasn't trying to hurt her and let him pick her up. Followed him around after that and they quickly became great pals. Whisper and Church met much later in life after she saved him from a raider ambush and he stuck around to try and help her with "whatever it is she does". Pirate didn't much like her at first but they get along now.
