Thank you! Definitely try some traditional again, it can be a nice break from digital every once in a while! I usually use Prismacolors along with microns, these were done with a store brand grey marker set from my local A.C.Moore (sadly they went out of business in Feb). Other than those still used microns, a white and orange paint pen, and then a white gel pen for thinner details.
Prismacolor do markers?! I must do some hunting and find some to try :o I've got a set of spectrum noir though that I should really try to get through first, I've been trying to work with posca paint markers as well but they're requiring a whole new learning curve o.o
Going to go dig out all my traditional stuffs tomorrow I think :D

Admittedly I got my Prismacolor markers about *cough*10yearsago*cough* when they were back at $3 tops a marker lol My only complaint is that I wish they made more natural desaturated colors. I wanted to try Posca but couldn’t justify the price with how little I’d probably use them so I got a cheaper brand of paint pens, Artistro. I like them a lot too, but they don’t blend together like Posca supposedly can.
I think it was about 6 years ago I got my spectrum noir purely because they were cheap and cheerful. Pretty happy with their range of colours but not really certain on their quality i haven't really used much else.
Paint markers are very strange, I don't think they're supposed to blend, I can't seem to layer them well either, so, I guess you have to KNOW what colours going where precisely and I just don't plan that far ahead :D but, they're very opaque so they're good for lettering, outlining and things like that and I guess very toony styles... alas that isn't me!

I have never tried the Spectrum brand myself, but they had them at A.C.Moore too in so many colors so I was tempted to hoard them xD The best way I have found to blend the paint pens is to smear them on top of each other (one layer wet, one dry) with either my finger or a tissue or paper towel - my recent snowy moon mini painting is an example as the canvas was black. Maybe that method will help?
