So yeah, I think the Pokeathlon in HG/SS is pretty awesome. Not just because it's more far interactive than the contests and requires a fair amount of skill, but also because you can still win even if the Pokemon on your team aren't specifically bred and raised just for that one sidegame. So instead of having to figure out a "perfect build" to even have a chance at winning, you can just actually, you know... have fun.
I'm not entirely sure if the Pokeathlon would be a legit sports competition in the PCA-verse or if it'd be more of a game show-style setup like American Gladiators, but either way it looks like these three didn't have any problems dominating the field today! :D

Yeah, and on top of it all you can buy some pretty useful items with the points you save up. After you unlock the national Pokedex you can buy evo stones every day of the week if you want.
And i think all three of 'em have a right to be excited, with the accomplishment they just pulled off! XD

Well, you'd probably need good builds if you want to try for those "potential trophies" where you beat the "second record". And good skill. I mean really, sixteen laps in Relay Run? Amongst other ridiculous scores. At least you only need to get into the friendship room for the trainer star.
...but a little more on topic of the picture, pretty cool. Poses came out well.

I suppose, though I was able to knock out all of the first level records on the Skill and Speed courses without modifying any of my team's stats (who were, surprise, a Pachirisu, a Persian and a Vulpix), so I imagine it comes down to practicing and having a good reaction time more than anything. And unlike contests, you don't go home empty-handed if you don't win.
Snow Throw really is the toughest of the lot, but sometimes you can get a sense of who's going to be aiming at you through most of the match, and if you concentrate on them they won't have any chances to fire back at you or build up much of a score. That game doesn't seem to be so much about trying to win as it is keeping everyone else from winning.
