By not trying to start with the distort setting on. It's totally unpredictable and hard to fix if it explodes on you!
Thinking ahead for colors and stuff helps too. Since there's technically no layers, white will show up if you use it to erase something and then use Under to paint on top of that. MAKES ME GO CRAAAAAZY!!
