"What was once an ordinary city guard has been transformed by the light of the full moon into a long-eared, white-furred creature with buck teeth and a big puffball tail held up by a pair of strong, digitigrade legs. Her glowing red eyes shake with fear and she draws her sword in panic at being seen."
Lagomorphic weres are rare variations of the lycanthrope curse. Unlike most lycanthropes who are filled with primal rage and bloodlust, Wererabbits are instead overwhelmed by a sense of paranoia and fear. Even when not transformed, they seem to be always anxious and on-edge. Lagothropy also does not have the same corrupting nature as lycanthropy, as rabbits are favored by the moon, but this aspect is heavily misunderstood, even by the curse's victims, which tends to only ratchet up their anxiety even more. Many live in fear of being discovered and will only lash out in panic or desperation, the fear driving them irrational and perhaps even forgetful of what happened.

A victim of Lagothropy gains the following traits:
Dexterity score increases to 15, unless it is already higher
Damage Resistance: Slashing, Piercing, and Bludgeoning from non-magical, non-silvered attacks.
Cowardice: Wererabbits have disadvantage against fear effects and disadvantage on Charisma(Intimidation) checks. Effects that would nullify fear effects instead cancel out this disadvantage, requiring a straight roll.
Keen Senses: Wererabbits have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks based on smell or hearing.
Shapechanging: As an action, a wererabbit can polymorph into a giant rabbit, a hybrid form, or back to their true form. Their stats remain the same in all forms. They return to their true form when they die. A Wererabbit if forced to transform on the night of a full moon.
Strong legs(Rabbit or Hybrid Form Only): base speed increases to 40 feet and gains advantage on Strength(Athletics) checks to perform a jump and their base horizontal and vertical jump distances are doubled.
Bite(Rabbit or hybrid form only): Strength or Dex attack in which the Wererabbit is proficient. Damage is 1d4+STR or DEX Modifier and the victim must pass a Constitution check (DC= 8+ Proficiency) or be cursed with Lagothropy.
A template designed to be a more balanced Lycanthropy that packs a nasty drawback (I think like 2/3rds of the MM has a fear effect?), so it operates more like a Dark Gift (Might make a good Dark Gift, actually). There are a lot of benefits, but considering that you have to give your character a trait named "Cowardice" might make you reconsider the template, and giving it to the whole party would reduce them to a pile of quivering cowards. (They're really jumpy, get it?) The cowardice and misunderstood nature of the curse is meant more to assist role play. Imagine a poor werebunny in Barovia's werewolf-infested lands.
