Warring Frigates

A UNN Clovis frigate engages a Betelgeusian torpedo boat in high orbit above a gas giant, nestled in the heart of a colorful nebula. Its railguns leave trails of molten slag as they pierce the organic spacecraft's armored hull, spraying chunks of shattered carapace, spilled bodily fluids turning to crystalline clouds as they freeze in the vacuum. Defensive plasma cannons fire back, scorching the frigate's angular armor with crackling bolts of superheated gas, the bug ship's thrusters belching jets of methane flame as it attempts to get clear. From the fleshy launchers clutched in its insect-like limbs, a swarm of plasma missiles pours forth, the frigate's CIWS guns spewing streams of tracer rounds as they struggle to intercept them. Hatches begin to open on the vessel's hull, torpedoes rising from their tubes on plumes of fire, leaving chemical trails in their wake as they race towards their target.
