Hemlockpaw being a sweet boy, and enjoying a rare moment of relaxation in the fields of Windclan territory. I decided to try out another lineart and background style for this picture, in an attempt to try and work out what changes I want to make to my comic in future pages. For this picture I did the lines in Sai, but opted to make them smooth rather than sketchy. It's the first time I've made smooth lineart in Sai, and I do think I prefer it over lining in Photoshop.

The background was done in Photoshop, and I really like the contast of the smooth character against a rough, detailed background. It's something I love about handdrawn Disney movies. CGI animated films often feel overloaded with detail, and it almost feels like you don't know where you're supposed to look. I personally prefer the gorgeous simplicity of the hand drawn designs against the complex, painted backgrounds, which really make everything pop. It's a style I would really like to use for my comic, if I can figure out how to do it in a timely manner.
