I cannot express my deepest profound admiration and love to Kuba- for being someone who actually "does" as opposed to "talks".
Kuba has traveled continents and countries, dedicating and volunteering his time to Tiger conservation. At a first glance and meeting, you are met with a quiet, soft spoken man who's passions obviously roar greater than the cats he protects. Well educated and versed in the ways of conservation, Kuba's driving force is without a doubt, a Tiger: the endurance and the tenacity to continue even in the hardest of situations, standing up against anything and anyone; even at the expense of oneself.
He has traveled to Indonesia, the Far East, and India. And form some of his photos and blogs, I don't even doubt that he put his own life on the line to conserve the beasts that are in desperation to survive.
I honestly believe that if there were more people like Kuba, our problems in this world could be solved. For now, I can honestly say that I feel that Tigers have a fighting chance to survive becuase people like him exist.

Well then, start doing conservation in a Raptor Conservation center! We have one in Guelph [Ontario], and they do a lot of amazing work with a variety of birds- including Owls! I got to hold my favorite owl- a Scoop Owl named Otis! And Otis opened my eyes to the amazing that is weeee little owls. XD
That was the intended goal- Eric always comments on how bleak a lot of conservationists are- simply becuase dealing with trying to conserve a species while everyone else seems to care very little leaves a lot futile emotions in place. But no matter how bleak, Eric's driving force is always to be seen- so the eyes which are the windows to one's soul are always illuminated with hope!
Having briefly spoken to him whilst gathering information for my last comment I'll have to full support you in your observations. He is a great and intelligent guy and like you said one of the few 'Doers' out there. He is very inspiring to talk to and an awesome guy at that!
So thumbs up to Kuba!
And this is also a truly memorizing piece also. The fine fur detail is very delicate and the eyes are just hypnotizing. Love it!

They sure are! And I think that I have only seen a handful of people who actually have a clear path to see. Most people are so lost, that they try and hide behind so many false personas that it's like their entire figure is of falsehood. And it is so reflected in the eyes.
its hard for me to do much for wolf conservation other than what im doing already, i volunteer at a few wolf centres to work when i can, and spend money on adoptions schemes and what have you, but my goal of studying animal management and then 3 years of animal behaviour and welfare Bsc hons at uni is so i can work with the red wolf conservation project. Heh, still pales to this guy. amazing artwork.
It was a university gallery that was being held where people could vote. You could submit a maximum of 5 pieces (though for some reason some people got to submit more). I can't log into DeviantArt to link you, but the photos I had displayed were "Aegis" (Tiger), "Condemned" (Tiger), "A Tender Moment" (Snow Leopard), Deliverance"(Snow Leopard) and "Living Canvas" (Peacock). I'm actually glad I didn't get 1st because the prize was some stupid digital frame (they're so pointless)...still, I can't seem to come in first for anything. =P
I actually got a few frames and an Artfolio for 8x10s to have when I'm selling prints. I plan on using the frames (besides yours) to sell framed prints and since I got them for free that means bonus $$$.
...and yes, your work is awesome.

Dude, and did one specific piece win, or just the entire gallery? THAT IS SO AWESOME!
And I can SOOO totally relate about the second place thing.. I call it the "Tai Lung" syndrome- no matter how hard we work, or how many rewards, we just aren't "the one" they are looking for.
Dude, extra win about those frames! And extra squeeze becuase you are complimenting my art... and I feel all warm and fuzzeh.

Do a bang-on Jolie? Where do I sign up? =P
Yeah, I guess so...I am becoming a pretty cold, bitter, pessimistic, distant person though. Hopefully my spirit in general won't be so destroyed after I finish school. I definitely need something huge and awesome to happen in my life sometime soon, but I don't have much hope.

"Do a bang-on Jolie" HA! Totally missed that. My bad- but still win. XD
HAVE HOPE! The universe tests us in SOOOO many ways. I'll have to re-account you the story of "me going out to Vancouver and getting a Studio Job" out there. My MM was right on the ball when he told me everything will get in my way- it's a good tale to reaccount to you.
Also, I did buy you a little something cool the other day. Because I saw it and was like- THIS IS SO COOL AND A TIGER AND I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO CALL MYSELF A GOOD FRIEND TO ERIC IF I DIDN'T GET IT! XD

Hmmm... you ever watch LOST? I kind of feel like at some point I made a decision I wasn't supposed to make (if so, I think I know what it was), thereby splitting timelines and there is some 'alternate-universe me' out there who is enjoying everything working out while things here seem to be almost the same, but laughably off kilter in their end result. Do you think the universe ever teases people for its own amusement...like a carrot and stick thing? =P
...and I'm eager to see what it is you got so excited about. I do hope this doesn't become a trend though...you're becoming far too generous. Plus, being a good friend has nothing to do with gifts. =3

Funny you should say, becuase multiple times I have told my MM and Sensei about situation like those, and they always shared the same sentiment- absolutely not. Destiny is what happens to you when you choose the path to avoid it. What you THINK was a bad idea, is actually only one of many obstacles you will come to face again- but you will be ready to overcome them in time, and whatever is meant for you to do, will happen despite all of this.
No, it's not a trend- but I tend to have a pile of things in my room meant for other people.. because my friends really "benefit" from my crazy moment of "THIS REMINDS ME OF YOU!" sentiments. And actually, I just couldn't let this one get away.. it's the COOLEST thing ever! It's a glove that is black and has a Tiger skeleton on it- THAT GLOWS IN THE DARK! And I thought... glow in the dark? I CANNOT LEAVE THIS PLACE WITHOUT IT!
