Just as Johnny Cash sang, rising flood waters at an early stage taking over the 101 bridge in Chanhassen, MN. Taken as close as I could get- roughly 3/4 of a mile away with a 500mm mirror reflex lens on a tripod. No cropping done, but the image is still a little soft simply because of the haze caused from moisture in the air from such a distance. Notice all the debris piled up atop the bridge from the flowing water, along with the white sign. The two lines represent the record flood levels for the area, so its not a major flood yet, but the river hasn't come close to cresting yet. It's still a risin'

It has its uses. It certainly does not replace a standard telephoto IE a 70-300 and is Manual focus, even at the F8 it seems to expose a LOT darker at F8 then my 70-300 does for example. If my 70-300 can pull off 1/500 at F8 at ISO 200 the mirror lens might be 1/320 or even 1/250th for the same exposure.
Depending on what its used for it doesn't seem quite as sharp, but I noticed even with my 300 at extreme distances of more then about 100 yards the image looks somewhat distorted. I think a lot of this has to do with the ambient "moisture fog" that rises from open ares which seems to blur out certain aspects of a photo.
