Watercolor and color pencil. 1997. This is one of my characters I came up with back in the early to mid 1980s. It was a comic novel idea that never really got off the ground. Story of my life..just like the song from Social Distortion..go figure..
Maybe I should provide a little background here..
When I came up with this character, it was between 1983 and 1985. The story took place on Earth and the surrounding stellar neighborhood about a million or so years in the future. I know this is probably impossible, but humor me here..I was in my early 20's and was new to the whole comic novel genre...so cut me some slack.
I imagined after humans died out...the domestic canines took over because of their being raised by humans, taught by humans, genetically manipulated by humans, and thus, they evolved, taking over the niche humans left behind. Crazy stuff? What can I say?
I Didn't think about the cats since all they seemed to do is lay around a lot and look cute..and I don't want to hear complaints from cat lovers..I'm not going there. I mean, we never used a cat to drag in a freshly gunned down water fowl or herd sheep..I mean, c'mon..really?
But enough about that.
I did put in the story that the only vestige of humans that did survive that long were a race of androids on a distant planet that learned to self replicate in the image of humans. C'mon..it's science fiction/fantasy...turn off that side of your brain for a few moments!!
But there ya go...that's all I'm getting into..

I am shocked. I would not think that Jeff would have copied you here, given that he's made a backround life for Snowbuni and tried to make a continuum for the stories.. (and the guy got me to read manga, as he lives in my area. good guy. mac user, but I like him still. I read Sgt. Frog and I can blame it on Jeff! (or thank him for good reads, if a little odd, learning to read manga)
I just chalk it up to synchronictic sympatico. Everybody was in tune with everyone else back then, most comics tend to derive ideas from others, it happens. Nothing that I would have a conniption over. If someone does it better and a little different than I...then run with it. What the heck eh?
