I miss the Scotman and Icelad days. If I ever get off the Crappy Day Job treadmill, I'm definitely reviving them. They're good, clean FUN.

In this country your manager generally signs your paycheck, I believe. Employers are generally quite interested in saving money, I think they do just the opposite, now and then they just stop paying you or funding your benifits etc, and wait for you to come to them, oh, haha, must have been a computer glitch. Darn. Let it go by a whole month without seeing HR, though, you'll never see that money.
That reminds me of the time I walked into one of the many pizza-delivery places I worked, told the person behind the counter I was there to start work and they processed me. By the time the store manager was aware of my presence, I had performed well enough to be a keeper.
Someone I once worked with told me about this person he use to see at the mine where he worked in the machine shop. This guy was the most industrious person there, he said. Every day he would be moving these large carts of scrap and material around the shop. He was always on time, almost never took a sick day and rarely took a vacation. He was so focused and so loyal that no one ever questioned him or even bothered to check up on him. Turns out when he retired someone finally asked how he managed to last for 30 years at that place. And what he did..for most of his entire time there..was simply move that one pile of metal from one end of the building, which was easily about 400 feet long and almost that wide, to the other. That's it.
I don't know if this is true or not as I had no way to verify it, but it sure was an interesting story.
