lockheed from the future here this shit is cringe asf and thus i deem it NOT CANNON. New lyudmila lore because i said so CRY ABOUT IT
Leon was alone.
A forest surrounded him in every direction.
He was lost.
All the young man had were a few tools at his disposal. This included a survival knife and a compass, which he held in each hand as he stumbled through the woods. When he looked away from them, an odd sight caught his attention, and his body locked up upon spotting something similar in appearance to one of humanity's oldest predators…
It was a woman that looked like a bipedal wolf.
Oddly enough, the wolf wore a minimalist outfit befitting someone in the US special forces. A combination of black and white fur covered the rest of her body. She stared at Leon from afar with her curious, sapphire blue eyes as they both remained motionless and awaited a response from the other.
"Are you one of the air force boys?" asked the wolf.
Her voice sounded surprisingly similar to a young human woman, albeit there was something fierce and feral about it. Leon found himself awestruck as he looked at the woman. She appeared to be a hybrid of a human and a wolf due to her almost human form with her upright posture, plantigrade feet, and for some reason… a prominent pair of breasts concealed by a tank top. Although Leon couldn't help himself due to being on the same eye level as her chest, mostly thanks to the wolf standing over six and a half feet tall, he stared directly at them and received a menacing glare in return.
"So… are you going to answer my question or just stare at my boobs?"
Blood rushed to Leon's face as he shook his head. "Yeah! Yeah…" he said before scratching the back of his head. "I just wasn't expecting to run into an uplifted out here, so sorry about that…"
The wolf crossed her arms, allowing Leon to spot some black padding on her hands.
"Sure, you are."
"It doesn't help that I haven't seen any of you in real life before either. Just online."
"Well, now you have." she said with a roll of her eyes. "I hope you're happy. What's your name, anyway, human?"
"Uh… Leon." he answered.
"You almost sound like you've forgotten it." she said with a sneer. "Don’t be so nervous. Should I call you Airman Leon, then?"
Leon glanced at the patch on his uniform, which had a single wing on the shoulder. "Maybe. Leon would be easier."
"As you wish, human. You must be better than most fresh meat if you're an E-2 already."
The man glanced away. "Yeah… but all I did was take JROTC in high school…"
"Regardless, you can call me Lyud for short." she said with a dismissive wave of a hand.
"Lewd…?"
Lyud narrowed her eyes. "No. My full name is Lyudmila, and don't even try going for any jokes or puns. I've heard them a million times before. You're also not exactly in the best of positions… mostly since I'm assuming you stumbled outside the bounds of your SERE training. Somehow."
The human threw his hands in the air. "I was just living up to the escape part of that acronym is all!"
From there, Lyud strolled towards Leon, and a predatory glint appeared in her eyes as her tail swooshed side to side. If the man didn't know any better, she almost looked like he was staring at him as if he was a fresh piece of meat. "You might need to do that part again." she said with a snarl alongside what the human could have sworn was a smile.
Consequently, he put his compass in his pocket, focusing all his efforts on wielding the knife. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"I'm technically a secret." she said with a huff and her nostrils flaring. "An experimental paratrooper, to be more exact. You're not supposed to be here."
"And that means…?"
"In other words, some wouldn't take too kindly to someone like you stumbling upon the product of an uplifted weapons program. Because that's what I am…"
Lyudmila paused to smile, revealing pearly white and carnivorous fangs. "A weapon."
Looking at the exposed claws on her white hands and feet couldn't make this more crystal clear to the likes of Leon as his fight or flight instincts kicked in.
Once the woman was a dozen paces away, she stopped in place. "But I'm not going to hurt you." she said with a low growl. "I'm not really all that surprised by this set of events… but I'm also not so fond of strangers, much less the ones that wave a knife in my face."
These words brought Leon's attention to the aforementioned weapon.
"It just goes to show how different the two of us are." continued Lyud. She placed her hands behind her back, then began circling around the man, practically reducing him to prey in all but name. "You dull humans have weak senses. No natural weapons or defenses. Not even a sense of direction with that little worthless compass of yours. That's why you had to make creatures like me. Ones that could survive, thrive, and strive towards the mission without depending on tools like a crutch."
As she spoke and walked in circles, Leon kept his full focus on her, but she was getting closer and closer…
"A lone human can't survive in the wild. Not like this. Not without any help."
"Look!" said Leon with what amounted to a guttural growl. However, that combined with his slightly trembling hands, increasingly rapid breaths, and the sound of his heart racing did little to deter the predatory woman. "I… don't mean any harm. I'm just young, stupid, and I didn't mean to offend you or anything. I'll just go back the way I came. I guess. I'm not really sure about what to do at this point."
Suddenly, Lyud stopped in place. She had this wild look in her eyes as she stared at Leon. Following a few moments, the woman pivoted in place to fully face him, albeit his world was still spinning from whatever little game she was playing.
"That knife won't do you much good if you don't know how to use it, you know. Yet, my mother always warned me about the dangers humans can pose with their tools..."
"I don't want to fight!" he said with a raised voice.
"Then don't." she growled.
Before he could respond, Lyud leaped into action. Within the blink of an eye, she sprinted directly towards him, pounced, and tackled him. A premature swing rendered his knife flying into the air before it landed in the dirt with a soft thud. Leon met a similar fate as the full force of the woman crashed into him, and within mere moments, she had him pinned to the ground as they found themselves nearly face to face.
Leon's eyes went wide as Lyudmila growled. The wolf opened her mouth, exposing the pulsing pink abyss that was her maw with her canine tongue lolling out, then lunged towards his neck as she uttered a single word...
"Nom."
With a gentle clasp of her jaws, she held his throat between her teeth. Lyud's tail wagged as she sat there with her breath wafting against his neck and her tongue occasionally gracing it. Afterward, she released the paralyzed human from the grasp of her maw and licked her thin, black lips.
"Mmm. And… that would have been the end of your life, Leon. Hopefully, that proves my point!"
Fear and something else swirled in Leon's head as he blinked several times. "Uh… Right. Yeah."
"That was fun and all, but that brings us to the next question..."
After saying this, Lyudmila stood back up. Leon rolled over for the sake of pushing himself off the grass, but before he could do so, the wolf planted a single foot on his back. The pressure alone forced him to stay put as four claws pierced his uniform.
"Wait a second, human. Should I show you the way back or teach you how to survive out here? I’m not really sure."
Within a somewhat awkward position, Leon clasped his own throat to remove some wipe off what little remained of her slobber. "I… I don't know. You've made it obvious that you're the one deciding things here."
"Fair enough, you poor human."
At long last, she freed the man by taking a few steps back, allowing the man to stand. Once Leon did so, a pensive look spread across Lyud's face as she scratched the underside of her chin. Meanwhile, the human patted down his pants to get some dirt off his clothes, then he retrieved his nearby knife and slid it into a sheathe.
"As I said, Leon, you're not supposed to be out here. Much less know about the presence of my kind. Then again, I'm in a similar situation to you... where I've been thrown into the wilderness and expected to survive with nothing but my claws and teeth… while you've been given the proper tools."
This brought Leon's attention to the other gear on his person. "Right.” he muttered. “According to your own logic, you don't need them."
"Keep in mind, I'd be lying if I said they weren't useful."
Leon balled his hands into fists. "You're also not human. Which definitely explains the bizarre behavior…"
"Ah, so you're one of those nerdy, analytic types." said Lyudmila with a swoosh of her fluffy tail. "I'm not sure why the air force attracts those types, but it works in my favor." She made another devious smile. "I can be the brawn while you're the brains. We can help each other survive out here with my natural instincts and your toolset. We'd just have to keep it a secret before going our separate ways. So, what do you say?"
"Believe it or not, Lewd, I can carry my own weight…"
She sneered. "Well, duh! In a worst-case scenario, you're the emergency food!"
His face momentarily turned red. "Maybe I should head back, then..."
"Suit yourself.” she said before turning away. “By the way, that was mostly a joke, you silly boy. If you change your mind, you know where to find me."
With that, Lyud strolled away. Her tail swooshed in synchronization with her hips as Leon merely watched on. Soon, she disappeared from his sight by vanishing into the treeline. As this occurred, the sun setting on the horizon made it clear that things were going to get dark soon. Sudden panic flooded Leon's mind as he looked over his shoulder and realized that he had no idea how to return to the designated training grounds, much less get through the night alone.
"Wait… Lyudmila!" he shouted before sprinting after her.
Yet… the wolf was nowhere in sight. There was nothing but trees, dead leaves, and various vegetation as far as the eye could see as he bolted into the forest. Despite this, he kept moving in one direction. It was as if his head was on a swivel as he looked all around his position, but eventually, he stopped to heave in and out as he leaned against one of many trees.
"Don't be stupid." said a familiar voice.
Leon looked to his side, just to find Lyud standing right next to him.
She narrowed her eyes. "You'll just hurt yourself and waste energy by running through the forest. I've seen so many humans hurt themselves by stepping into a hidden hole, just to sprain an ankle or otherwise trap themselves. You have much to learn."
"Sorry." he said while huffing and puffing.
"They really need to learn how to properly train you air force boys. Ugh. Take a sip from your canteen, then follow me."
Following this, Lyud gestured at the man with a clawed hand and walked away. He did exactly as he was instructed by popping the cap off his canteen, chugging down some water, then putting it back in its proper place. At the same time, the wolf moved through the forest with a certain degree of grace as the distance between the two grew. Leon soon followed her by stomping through a plethora of dead leaves. Unlike his heavy boots that made plenty of noise, the wolf walking with nothing but some ankle braces that supported her otherwise bare feet accompanied by paw padding afforded her the ability to make little to no sounds despite her relatively large size.
It took some time, but Leon eventually caught up to her before they walked side by side.
"Anyway, human… I can teach you about how my kind survives, and maybe you can tell me more about your people. Not there's much more to learn from them. I’m far more interested in knowing if you have a fire starter or something that can make our lives much easier tonight."
“I do.” said Leon with a smirk. "It sounds like we have a deal then."
And so, Lyud led the human deeper into the forest to learn the ways of the wolf, marking the moment a partnership formed between a young man and a bewitching predator.
