Technically, its an SAR-1. Last I saw an SAR-1 for sale, they were asking $1000. I doubt they sold it, but that was the asking price.

Crazy prices. I got mine way back when, $200-$300 or so. SKSs were even cheaper, $69 each, less if bought in lots. Should have gone for a SVD as well. Did get a SVT 40 though.

Yeah, definitely on the SVD. I bought mine about 14 years ago and it was $1500 back then. They're now $6000+ I was actually looking at an SVT, and was about to buy that, but then I noticed an SVD next to it. Bought the SVD instead and was glad I did. It would be 8 years before I saw another SVD for sale, and it was $5000.

Nice. I first handled one a long time ago, and found it to fit me oh so well. Never had the $ opportunity to get any version of one, though would have been happy with even the Chinese sporter. Nowadays I'm into more vintage types, most recently a 1873 Springfield trapdoor (most of my recent gallery is it and others)

And yeah, it has a nice fit....some rifles are just like that. They seem almost like they were made for you, even if they don't have any adjustments in length of pull, etc.
I saw that 1873 Sprinfield of yours, very nice. I always liked the "full length" stock, going all the way along the barrel to the muzzle myself. I have a 1903 Springfield, an earlier one at that, but it has a sporter stock on it (came that way when I got it). Been trying to find a military stock for it for a while.
