it's amazing how in furry worlds where macros and micros exist, the macros would stop doing whatever it is they do to everyone that is bug sized in order to avoid Coronavirus. And then there is the bats who get heavily discriminated against and prejudiced because it came from them. Kind of sad to see that happening to them
Genetically it closely matches coronaviruses found in bats. Supposedly it came from some random cave which was studied in 2017. However, these bats' coronaviruses only have a 96% genetic match with COVID-19. For reference, Humans have a 95% genetic match with Chimpanzees, so it's not as close as it sounds.
150ft from the wet market where the disease first spread is a bioweapons testing facility. They use bats in that facility to test diseases. A month before the disease spread, there was a report at that facility of a virologist being bitten and peed on by one of the test bats. He quarantined himself for a week but experienced no symptoms and went back to work.
So, it's probably bats. But we can't be 100% sure because no originating strain has been found, even after 3 months of searching.
