Not sure about thicker, but the lines are a bit darker than I normally go for. If anything, probably thinner. Yeah, as for style, I was trying to go for a more... well, stylized one from the start.

But, either way, I intend to try working with backgrounds more often, so... yeah. x3

I think backgrounds almost always make a picture better. They ground the subject and define what they're doing better.
