Hmm, on the fence with this. Both whimsical and on the fence slipping in its catharsis through its conflict of resolution. Kind of, is that is all that you have to say, leaving with the crying animals then drop off. There is a simplicity to it that is enjoyable and keep its from the duality of trouping an Avatar resolution, or the bleak side of the coin, at the same time, kind of a head scratch that's it. The whimsy here and reflection though beyond that counts well even in the shortness.

Ha. It was for a writing challenge, and I was capped at 2k words. The main criticism is it's a bit of a tonal whiplash, which I suppose it is, though I was trying for that. I think if I return to this, I'll need to seed it a bit earlier on so it's not quite so jarring. But otherwise, I'm fairly happy with it, and writing stupid squirrels is a load of fun.
