This is sitting on a used car lot two towns over.
Yes, it's a Delorean.

Lambo doors scissor upward and out. Lamborghini don't actually have them anymore because, well, the cars flipped and the people inside died.
As for being trapped in a DMC, you could just break the windshield instead. I think the more practical problem with a DMC would be parking lots. Eternally stuck in two parking spaces in the boonies with a "GULL WING DOORS DO NOT TOW" sign in the window.

Well, he was modifying it and building a racecar but I guess he ran out of steam? I dunno.
Mercury is meh and the Tracer is actually an escort ripoff but I loves my tracer yes I do. I have given it to my mechanic in states where he has admitted he has no idea why it was running or how I drove it to him.

And when you find a DeLorean, make the capacitor yourself:

Nnnnno. That isn't how they're getting the parts because when DMC was shut down, the government of the country it was in took all parts, molds, and cars in progress and dumped them into the ocean. This went down in the early 80s and is the reason why they were made only a few years. That's why it's so hard to find DMC parts if you actually own a real Delorean.
I imagine what's actually happening is they've machined their own molds to knock out parts. Certainly it'd make it easier to replace door hydraulics but I'm honestly not sure what to think of the Texas DMCs. For starters they cost double what you can pay for an 80s DMC. A Delorean on the internet for sale is 15-20K. Hell sometimes you'll find them as rolling chassis or whatever for closer to 10K. The ones out of Texas? Over 40K.
And you can't claim original motor: it's not the original motor. You can't claim parts numbers matching: Because they don't. Now some people don't go into it for that, hell I'd buy a numbers matching then have the numbers matching parts professionally stored because that engine's coming out in favor of one out of an RX8, but it does bring the question. Is it actually a Delorean or a pretender to the throne?
I suppose the determining factor would be what year the VIN claims. If the VIN is from the 80s, it's re-manufactured. If the VIN is from the '00s, it's a kit car, not a DMC, because DMC has been gone since oh about the time I was a year or two old.
My take? Buy one from the 80s. Save yourself half the cost of the Texas one and put in whatever engine you like.
