My high school years, on and offline, in a single meme. Think we've all been there.
Admittedly a rather generic version of the meme (it's old and all-purpose) which I made to kind of make fun of my own frequent knack for rocking the boat. I haven;t gotten around to making new varieties because life, but I-am-number-777 has suggested some pretty good ones which I'll post as I'm able unless someone else does it first. In the meantime, feel free to post your own versions. Just be sure to credit and show me what you think up. :)

The tagline of he Zootopia fandom should be Try Everything -Wait, But Not That.'
It's interesting and sad how people will insist it's a free country, then tell you that your opinion isn't forbidden it's just wrong because of some reason or other and it would be best for everyone if you just deleted it.

Oh heavens yes. I remember a humorous submission here with a married Nick. (No smut or anything, jst not wildehopps.) and I made the mistake of commenting 'lol' to which someone immediately wrote a 3'000 word reply on how there was no possible way that was canon and that I obviously just wanted to see something like this for trolling and several other things. The resulting thread went on for months mostly due to their insistence that, whatever non-wildehopps position I might have, it had to be abandoned otherwise the fandom, movie and any possible sequels would be ruined.
I really do wonder about some people getting so pent up about such things. I've created my own nitpicky ragepoint out of sheer annoyance.

Wow. Even I've never gotten anything like that. Dang. If they're that bent out of shape I'd be inclined to keep at it. The fandom needs saving from loonies like that.
If I had to guess I'd say they're some kind of SJW or something and see WildeHopps as an emblem of their respective "social justice" sacred cow (I won't try to pick it out of the herd, if you catch my meaning). Nitpicky ragepoint? What's that?

I honestly can't tell, I've seen wildehopps supported as being traditional marriage (With SJWs apparently wanting him gay or single.) or as an interracial thing. I suspect that there's loons on both sides that just turn their favorite ship into whatever they want it to be.
My 'ragepoint' which I use to jab at people who are just taking things WAY to seriously is that Judy's use of mob connections to get info was either police brutality or the state being corrupt and oppressive, depending on which side is being argued. It's nice to see someone who (for whatever reasons) has made wildehopps their golden calf try and excuse that behavior.

I've seen that. Also seen it used as an analogy for same-sex marriage and what have you "Love knows no species," "Love is never wrong," etcetera). And you may be right, or perhaps not. Most of the ships I've supported in the past were ones where about the only way I ever saw anyone go wrong was smut. I don't think I'd abandon a ship if I saw it being reimagined like that you say ("whatever they want it to be"), but it doesn't help that indeed there are loons on both sides or that most fanart/fan fiction is ultimately, on some level, a form of wish fulfillment.
Oh, so you're the one I've been hearing about. lol Doesn't help any that honestly her actions were rather morally dubious.

Yeah there's a LOT of fanworks where the analogies are pushed real hard. (I'm especially tired of the 'intersperses offspring are possible but nobody knows it because such love was forbidden' trope. Because heaven knows interracial couples weren't a thing HERE until just recently.)
Fortunately I don't think Disney will do anything so drastic. They'll seek the widest audience so won't want to cater to any one group. (We see this in the movie itself; if you wan to look for things like racial analogies you really have to stretch.) Because sometimes something is ruined just by the fans.
I might be 'the one'; it's hard to tell. I remember once being 'the one', but it turned out that 'one' was someone in the My Little Pony community who really hated Twilight Sparkle and who liked Zootopia by coincidence. I'm probably not important enough for anyone to hear about, I don't even make twitter rants.
The problem with her actions is that they're a classic comedy trope of 'annoying guy gets what's coming to him' but the movie tried to be quite serious as well. The writers have admitted it was an oversight and Mr. Big will need tweaking for any sequels. (The comic and novelization changed things a bit because of this.) But it's a useful moment to bring up against those who want to take things dead serious and make a soapbox.

Agreed. Totally different business, that.
I kind of hope you're right, but knowing Disney it's only a matter of time.
Oh. Hm, could be.
Yeah, the best of us can run into that occasionally, it's true. One has to be careful not to fault others for making the same mistakes one has oneself, which for some of us (guilty) rules out a lot of mistakes. Of course you can argue they're professionals, but they're still human.

I think, perhaps if there was a TV series they'd be tempted . A series lends itself to more wandering storylines and lots of frills. If they stick to movies however I'd expect them to tend towards crazy before they went preachy. (More Threetopia: Dinosaur City than Zootopia 3: Race War.)
I'll stick with the classic; if you hear anything good, it was me. Anything bad, probably someone else.
Things like movies are very big projects and I know for a fact that when you're working on something 'up close' you can overlook the big picture. And often you end up 'understanding' things that seem obvious to you but actually aren't. That's how you get things like kid's movies with sexual assault scenes in them. If you're lucky someone will catch things before it goes public, otherwise all sorts of stuff sneaks through.

Threetopia is a hypothetical terrible Zootopia sequel where Judy gets abducted by alien dinosaurs. The fic was on tumblr and was based on an Alpha and Omega sequel that was just as bad.
I didn't ruin the random, random was never good I tell you!
The live action movie Show Dogs originally contained multiple scenes whee a show judge grabs the lead dog's nuts (A thing actually done in dog shows to judge breeding prowess.) There's a whole plot about the dog having to learn to 'go to a zen place' when this happens. The final culmination of this is a scene where a guy reaches between a dog's legs and the dog smiles, relaxes and calming music plays.
The filmmakers thought this was 'amusing' and 'cheeky'. Sexual abuse organizations thought it was sketchy as hell and the movie had to be pulled and edited. Nobody who worked on, cut or focus-tested the movie saw a problem with the scenes, but it was creepily evident in the final film.

It's a parody though, it's ridiculous on purpose, a sort of 'Let's write something like the bad Disney sequels from the 90s'. So Nick and Judy are married and have kids who constantly spout 'cool' slang, Bellwether develops time travel, alternate universe Nick and Judy are evil and have goatees... It was fun while it lasted. There were even literal shipping wars where a crazy hyena tried to alter history to get their favorite ships.
Yep, the biggest problem with most things is that you have to share it with others, some of whom will be idiots.
Double yep, it's amazing what can happen, I've seen so many big and little mistakes in commercial properties over the years. Makes me glad I haven't released any, since I'm sure I'd screw up somehow myself.

To be fair, I actually liked a couple of those sequels. Bambi 2 was charming enough (in my opinion) to make up for storyline issues, and Lady and the Tramp 2 was arguably a legitimate improvement, though the time line is a bit amiss (scamp being smaller at seven months than his mother was at six, despite being 1/2/ a considerably larger stock). What you describe, though... Oy. Was that based on the Cinderella sequels or what?
Too true.
Agreed. Still looking to publish my books, but I hear where you're coming from.

Oooh yes. Bambi 2... it really didn't need to be as quality as it was. Quite a few people put their souls into that project and it's my favorite sequel.Cinderella 3 was surprisingly entertaining too. LatT 2 was nice, but had its issues. (Angel, is she a puppy being hit on by a much older dog, or is she an older dog who gets with a puppy?) There's some gems in the bunch.
The parody sequel was sort of based on franchises that get more and more sequels that need more and more stupid plots. It was directly based on Alpha and Omega (Which DID have a dinosaur sequel, and an Olympic games sequel, and a ghost sequel...) but just threw in all the 'bad sequel' stuff possible just to see how wacky it could get. Each post was done by a different person but had to follow the story already given so people were always trying to write others into corners.
Well best of luck with your books, it's hard out there. I had a vanity printing of a children's book years and years back. But getting proper commercial releases requires having skin as thick as a rhino's.

Honestly, what I've seen of the Cinderella sequels has me anticipating a Nostalgia Critic review. As for Angel and Buster, I give that some leeway since it's clearly presented as a How Not To relationship.
Ah, I see.
Hey, if it's a challenge just call me Kirishima. lol Yeah, I do know it's tough, though I know a few inside tracks to make it easier. Wait, does that make me more like Bakugo? Yikes.

Well, Cinder 2... Ugh. It's like with BatB, where they put the first three episodes of a possible TV series together as a 'movie'. It's utter trash. 3 is substantially better. They give all the people in it character development. The prince isn't just some guy, the evil stepmother is actually quite vicious. It's not a masterpiece but the NC has spoken approvingly of it during his Disneycembers.
Well it seems like you're well prepared to tackle the behemoth that is Publishing. I don't fancy myself a big-name player. I'm one of those background characters that appears for one episode and does nothing.

I always thought of Cinder 2 as more like the end result of a conversation something like this:
"Hey, the marketing department says we need some cheap sequels to milk this cash cow."
"Okay, let's use some fan fiction my fifth grade daughter wrote when she was half asleep and add music."
Really? Huh. The plot seemed like something he'd rip into like there was no tomorrow. Well, I guess even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
Hopefully. I know it takes a lot of persistence. I actually met one author whose books I grew up with as a kid, and it turns out she was rejected by at least a dozen companies.

Well yes, that's basically what a lot of Disney TV shows were. 'This person gets transformed into something\body swapped and realizes that things were so much better before' is a cliche for those sorts of things. The NC was reviewing a lot of Disney sequels that month, so the review was shorter than most and I think he evaluated it more in regards to other sequels than as an independent movie. The plot's... well it could be an episode of a TV show, but it's fleshed out well enough.
You'd be amazed how often famous works were rejected, 40, 60, 100 times in some cases. Makes you wonder what we never even saw.

TLDR version: If you're sleeping with your girlfriend, that's your business and no one else's. If you're sleeping with three guys, that's your business and no one else's. If you're waiting for your bride, that's everyone and their mother's business even if the stuff your peers and teacher are saying literally warrants legal charges for sexual harassment.
And then you're the one who "needs to be more tolerant."
I've gotten hit with garbage like this on any number of issues, all the way from the book of Genesis to WildeHopps. Though to be fair it usually didn't involve the kind of threats and taunts I got in high school... or at least not on nearly the same caliber.

Frankly I think oftentimes the unimportant things keep us from discussing the important stuff. "Who cares if we've agreed it was a problem for decades?! So-and-so used a word I don't like!"
And yeah, people getting hung up and emotionally overwrought doesn't help, whether it's big or small.
And yeah, people getting hung up and emotionally overwrought doesn't help, whether it's big or small.
Or rather... important stuff that some people are really uncomfortable with, and/or isn't quite as obvious or visible. Like the plight of men and how they suffer a lot without most of society noticing or caring. Or mental health which is still a bit stigmatized. Easier to just ignore one's own personal issues and the real injustices so you can fight over some petty thing that no one really cares about.
Being too comfortable is bad for humans. If there's nothing to fight or struggle over, we'll invent something. Even if it ends up making things worse in the long run.
