The reason he scooped her up into his maw in the first place was that he was in the middle of making out with Agatha when she barged in (and he panicked, not wanting Beatrice to see them). When Beatrice pryed his mouth open, he panicked again, fearing that she'd discover their relationship, so he swallowed. Though I think now he's gonna regret that decision x3
