So! I'm one of the masses of folks affected by job-loss in this chaotic time. I'm doing all I can to massively ramp up Hybrid Ink while I hunt down something new or get on unemployment (having been a contractor makes this tough), but am also taking the time to plow through a writing project, a book which is looking to be an ~80k word novel plus another 15k in short stories. I'm about 2/3-3/4 of the way done with the novel, and the short stories are already finished (if not completely edited) \o/
Qoheleth is a story in four parts, and here, available for free, is the first! It follows two timelines, the first set in 2112 and the second set in 2305. It's a bit isekai, a bit ode to neural uploading, and a lot of that omnipresent Maddyish play on gender and furry qua furry.
In the 2112 thread, with immersive tech readily available, a series of people wind up in strange comas, left stuck immersed. Bit more on the horror end of the spectrum for that genre, given the solitary-confinement nature of getting lost. Bestfox RJ struggles with such.
In the 2305 thread, with uploading tech readily available - and encouraged, given population problems - long-lived uploads struggle with burgeoning madness. A real problem when one is functionally immortal. Also bestfox Dear, Also, The Tree That Was Felled is on the case.
To help support me as I go through this, I'm releasing this serially on Patreon and through a Gumroad subscription! You can check out my page at https://patreon.com/makyo or https://gum.co/makyo-patronage As little as $1/mo will get you access to new chapters as they're released (or, in some cases, edited from previous versions). At $5/mo, you get access to drafts not yet ready for publication and contents from the outline so that, if you'd like, you can see where this whole crazy thing is going to wind up. At $10/mo, you get access to the full book as I typeset and ebookify it, as well as thoughts on the creation process and guiding input if you've got ideas on where this (and other!) projects might go.
