Dean curls up in a cozy ball. He sighs and relaxes, feeling that he’s falling asleep slowly. It was a tough day and recently healed wounds are itching a lot. Spirit definitely needs some sleep. Not only to recover but to turn himself off for a while to distract from this annoying itch, though.
Deep wounds need bigger amount of magic for healing due to this not the most pleasant side-effect appears. Dean has realized a long time ago that the more dangerous wounds are the faster he needs to fall asleep after healing, in other way he’ll tear himself with his own claws. This happened with him several times in the past and was… unpleasant.
His mind is already drifting away when Dean feels a gaze on himself. He sighs and opens eyes a bit. “Cas, what are you doing?”
There’s a rustling behind him and a quiet sound of steps.
“Sorry, I didn’t want to bother you,” Castiel says, circling around Dean, who lies on a pile of grass and leaves, and looks into his face.
Cas knows about Dean’s healing effects and he truly didn’t want to bother him – he was going to snuggle nearby and doze off too. Harpy says this to squirrel and he sniffs.
“Sorry, I didn’t want to bother you,” Cas repeats. “It’s better for me to go way. Sleep tight.” He hesitates for a time but then leans forward and touch Dean’s forehead softly with his lips. He is observing the harpy and closes his eyes when he ducks for a kiss.
After that Christmas it seems that some kind of wall between them was broken. They started to touch each other a little more. Examine themselves with gently touches. Dean was excited of Castiel’s wings, that he allowed him to touch them, to brush his feathers with his fingers (and dig his face in sometimes). And Cas himself was interested in caressing Dean’s fluffy tail with his clawed legs. And sometimes they allowed themselves to distract for kissing. In general, these were soft pure kisses, innocent enough. But on rare occasions, they could go crazy and rest side by side for a long time, licking each other’s mouths. Sam caught them once and Dean couldn’t look into his brother’s eyes for a week until he approached to him and said right up front that it’s fine. Squirrel was grateful to him for this.
“Cas,” Dean calls and lifts his head a bit. He blinks drowsy, looking at harpy but doesn’t even try to shoo this condition – he needs it. “Don’t go away.”
Castiel was going to turn around and leave but he stops, looking at Dean keenly.
“Please?” spirit mumbles and lies back, closing his eyes. Sleep is slowly takes over him.
Cas frowns to a thought. “You want me to..?”
Dean nods weakly, his eyes closed, and moves aside, giving place to him.
Giving place to Castiel.
Harpy makes a gasp when Dean pats lightly on the space next to him. After a moment’s consideration, Castiel climbs on a leafy pile-nest with his knees. Dean pats on leaves a bit more and curls up again.
Castiel lowers himself and lays on a side as comfortable as possible. By standards of who’s has a pair of huge wings. He stretches himself out next to Dean, one wing behind, leisurely hanging down the edge of the ‘nest’, so his flight feather touch the ground with their tips. The other one he snuggly covers spirit like it’s a blanket. Dean gets close instantly, almost asleep. Squirrel mumbles something and covers harpy’s legs with his fluffy tail.
Castiel touches slightly Dean’s forehead with his lips again and closes his eyes, falling asleep. They both need a rest.
