So, we're a busy bunch, if that's not clear already. So when new stuff comes out game-wise, we might notice or even purchase, but getting time to do'em is a whole other thing. Many favs we're looked forward to we haven't even touched yet for a majority of reasons, but at the very least, they give us something to look forward to.
And one of those was Persona 5! The latest entry in the Persona series!
Yep. Think we covered how 3 and 4 were awesome to us, and were looking quite forward to it.
But since Az was busy and I had put it off for...certain reasons...we didn't get to this one till...pfft...maybe a year after release?
Take notes kids. That's called restraint heh.
Yeah, but it was always on the list and I was SO glad to finally get into it. But boy...couldn't do what I wanted to do thanks to uhh...
Don't have to explain Rigel, 'cause reasons.
But, it kind of gave the excuse to just play the game like normal and enjoy it on those terms.
Yeah, didn't expect to do it with THAT one, but we did, and you know what, it was nice just to play a new game again, and one we've looked forward to for a long while.
And boy...was it wild! The Persona series is SO cool! All the interesting characters, the settings, the heavy themes...and for this one, they turned things up...I mean...by a LOT.
Shiho?
SHIHO! And that was the FIRST palace!
Jeez, flashbacks to Life Is Strange...
Oooouiii...the antagonists in this game...
Real scumbags. I mean, honestly, they're a good show to a good batch of humanity for ya...
I guess...I mean...jeez...the things these people did.
Though was interesting that that was like...three of them I think? Four?
I guess the women didn't count.
Huh, sexist there...
Wha!?
Joking. True, but joking heh heh. Anyway, I liked the whole treatment of the story's progression with that. With 3, it was mostly climbing the tower and learning about the Dark Hour. With 4, similar, but you were aiming to rescue people and stop them from getting killed. But in 5, you're trying to change the hearts of people and, by some extension, the world. Essentially the games climbed higher and higher in terms of ideals.
True! I mean, it felt kind of awesome to feel like you were changing the world!
Too bad that power doesn't actually exist...
Yeah, too bad...
Oh well, still, the whole cognition thing was a cool concept, so were the Palaces...
I mean, it's not fair to compare games in terms of graphics, so I kind of ignore that, though Persona 5 does look awesome with it's style. But as far as connecting antagonists with personal dungeons was awesome, Persona 5 definitely had the best dungeons between the three main games.
Tartarus was nice, but it was basically the same thing throughout...and if I recall Persona 4 improved it in the TV world, but it seemed more like passage swaps. Still, it's just natural improvement...
I THINK we managed to interact with every Confident in the game...boy, had to put off that politician for awhile...
Pfft. Had better stuff to do. Besides, the guy has an earlier cut-off date apparently, and his bonuses go with Negotiation. Pfft...tah! Yeah, THAT'S useful. Pro-tip, once you start getting a chunk in the compendium, you really don't need to worry about it anymore. Think part-way through the first dungeon, we didn't need to do it anymore. If you've had the Persona before, you can just get them back in the Negotiation without worrying about questions.
I think I like that feature. I remember having SO much trouble in Persona 2 with negotiations...
Yeah, was concerned about it myself, but having that 'knew you, I'll go back' feature was great.
Overall, it was just like 3 and 4 in terms of experience. Fantastic game, great characters...all around it met expectations!
Still say 3's ending gets me every time...
Oooh yeah...he kind of...didn't have the same end as 4 and 5's protagonists did he?
Nope. That's what made him the best heh.
But now there's Royal coming out!
BUT, we're holding off remember?
Right right right...7 is the next one.
We'll grab it someday heh.
Anyhoo, neat for the program to give us some sweet costumes!
They're...ok.
Explore Mementos'll be creepy. Good pick on Morgana to be our third, he can heal!
I like how Persona adds in non-human characters. With 3, you had Koromaru, the dog, in 4, you had Teddy, the...kind of bear-thing, and in 5...you get the cat. Fit SO perfect.
Az is a cat person hehehe.
Dang straight I am. Cats are great. So glad they had him as a main role, and definitely my favorite character. Another plus being that he's the party's main healer in my opinion.
Yep, never had him leave the party. Where we went, the cat went...like every moment of the game heh. And the fact he can turn into a VAN? Wha!? That was outta there tahahah! Should have been a bus like a Studio Gihibli film!
Media for the win. And it was so cool having him in the school bag and...in the school DESK? Really? That was just tahahahah. But honestly, think of how it would be having a talking cat as a roommate. Especially one with a cat-versed-napoleon-complex.
Huh...maybe it was because of his less than modest personality that the program decided to give him some humility by...pampering him...
