This is my crappy attempt and providing an up-to-date version of a 'race-sheet' for my species 'Pixen'. It's not too bad, but in the end it really is little more then a colored sketch that shows just some basic examples of the four races.
Never-the-less, I shall elaborate!
Top left; Eastern. They live in the wetlands and swamps of the Eastern boarder, which hugs a warm coast and is home to many deep waterways, the bottoms of which these Pixen make their homes. They are one of the two original Pixen races (the other being the Southerns), placed on Gye'in directly by the Gods themselves. Their purpose is to maintain the planet's ecosystems. The resemble foxes and are the most elegant.
Top right; Northern. Small, pale, thick furred cousins of the Easterns. Long ago, there was a splintering of view-points within the Eastern colony, resulting in a select few Pixen leaving the Eastern territories and traveling up into the Northern mountains, where they adapted and made themselves at home in the more snowy, rocky climate. They are almost completely white, have short snouts, small ears, short legs, and typically resemble either lynx or mountain goats. (the one pictured in the image above has an unusually long tail for a Northern)
Bottom left; Western. Brightly colored jungle-dwelling Pixen. Their origins stem from the same tale as the Northerns; some Northern Pixen disliked their new lifestyle and wished to leave, either because they reconciled with their old beliefs (that of the Easterns) or because they did not like the mountains. Whatever their purpose was, they attempted to return to the Eastern lands but were denied. Seeing as how the North was too cold, the central land too populated with mortal races, and the South was inhabited by the Southerns, they went West, into the great tropical jungles. They resemble tigers, have large heads, typically have either stripes or spots, and are known to be more tolerant of mortals.
Bottom right; Southern. Tall legged, skinny, with long ears and a tapered, dagger-toothed snout, these Pixen are the ones that give all others a bad name. The Gods long ago placed them into the Southern desert and savanna for the sole purpose of watching over and maintaining the mortal races. While the Easterns looked after forests and habitats, the Southerns loomed over the slowly evolving people of Gye'in, observing their progress and laying down a heavy, unforgiving hand if the tribes acted outside the wishes of the Gods. There are legends that speak of entire wars being laid to rest when a single of the demons stepped out from the horizon. They are old, reclusive, unfriendly to even the other Pixen races, and live under the dunes of the Great Desert. They are typically a dusty blue, with white underbellies and lion-like tails. They their heads resemble the Egyptian god Anubis.
The Southern drawn in this image is actually too short in its middle; all Pixen are somewhat elongated in the middle because they are inspired by the images of oriental dragons.
