So I got a new shade of eye shadow and absolutely had to play around with it. I didn't do a face shot because i really wanted to focus on my eye. It was a very simple thing to do really.
Step 1. Make sure eye area is completely clean and devoid of any dirt.
Step 2. Make sure the eyebrow is well groomed, shaped and all hairs follow the same grain. You may need to pluck a few strays.
Step 3. Apply a primer. This will ensure that your makeup will not smear or fade throughout the day. Take a small amount and apply it either to your finger tip or to an eyeshadow applicator. Apply as you would apply eyeshadow, covering the entire lid. Allow it to set for a few seconds.
Step 4. Line the eyes. Take some eye liner (I use liquid eyeliner by Kat Von D. Available at Sephora). Only line the top lid getting as close as you can to the lash line.
Step 5. Take an eyeshadow applicator, or your finger tip (I prefer finger tip, it allows the shadow to blend easier and smoother) and apply shadow (I use Urban Decay brand Available at Sephora, This shade is called Zero) on the lid, starting at the outer corner of the eye and move inward towards your nose following the shape of your eye. Don't apply too much on the inner corner.
Step 6. It will look a bit top heavy (especially if you extend it like I do) so you'll want to take an angle brush to make it flow better. Take a tiny amount of shadow on the brush and tap it over the sink (this will prevent loose particles that cause specs from falling onto your cheeks) and start at the outside corner and blend the shadow pulling the brush up into the shadow on the top eyelid, making sure the bottom flows evenly with the top, blending it, and not making it look broken.
Step 7. Take a very minute amount of shadow and go inwards toward the inner corner of the eye. when you have a nice line of black under your eye smudge it a bit by using a q-tip or your finger (one without shadow on it) and GENTLY rub the shadow towards the outer corner of the eye. If you rub too hard you will have to reapply shadow to the bottom.
Step 8. Apply mascara to the top and bottom eyelashes. (I'm not elaborating on the mascara part cause it's not hard to do. Though I do have a tip: If you're having trouble with clumping apply one coat of mascara and let it dry, then apply another coat and let it dry and so on and so forth until you feel it necessary to stop.)
Step 9. If you want to go for a darker more posh look apply eyeliner (for this I recommend a pencil liner) to the inside of the eyelid. (you can see where I didn't do that on the bottom eyelid (the pink area).
Step 10. Apply eyeshadow (coordinating with your hair color, but for blonds a darker color is more esthetically pleasing) to an eye shadow applicator and apply it to the eyebrow following the shape right to the arch, then stop. (another thing to do is be on the lookout for eyebrow pencils. When using a pencil make little marks one after the other to make a textures pattern, like fur)
Step 11. Using the angle brush apply shadow and work the arch following it down and out. (the arch I have is a very dramatic one, for those of you without dramatic arches just follow your brows smoothly)
Step 12. Using a foundation brush brush away any particles that have fallen on your cheeks, then apply a translucent powder to the face to set the makeup, ensuring it will not fade. DO NOT APPLY TRANSLUCENT POWDER TO THE EYES! IF YOU DO YOU WILL HAVE TO START ALL OVER AGAIN!
Well I hope you enjoyed this tutorial on how to do eye makeup. I will be doing more of these with more pictures starting of me without makeup and going through the process of applying foundation, eye makeup, lip color etc.
If anyone has questions or comments please do not hesitate to note me!
Much Love!
