Cute. I know it's a lemur but it also looks like a ring-tailed squirrel or, rather, a squirrel with a ring-tail.

It always seemed to me that the squirrel has a tail like an ostrich feather :)

I never thought about that but, you may be right. Now that you mention it, a squirrel's tail is rather flat compared to say a raccoon's tail. That's what I should have said, a raccoon without a mask.

... but I'm 100% sure that where I took this photo it was written "lemur"

Ring-tailed cats look very similar to lemurs (because of the striped tail) but it will be easy in the end to tell you have a lemur since lemurs are primates and will have five digits!

This definitely is looking more like a ringtail. It is possible that the person originally taking the photo mislabeled it; there are many animals that are inaccurately named (Sometimes for cultural reasons!)

This does look more like a 'ringtailed cat' because of the eyes and limbs (though the tail tends to be not so fluffy), so that is more likely the case.

I sometimes photograph information too, but not this time.
In any case, photographing is much more interesting than reading information boards. =^___^=

Now that you mention it, this does look like what I remember a ring-tailed cat to look like, especially in the face. I always thought they were very cute looking animals.
