After founding his wife guilty of treason by plotting with rebellious agents, Igmas had her executed. To distract himself from the grief of losing the love of his life, he doubled his efforts on his ruthless expansion of his empire. He found a world called Altreak, that had interesting resources: crystals capable of storing raw mana, the energy required for magic. The conquest on Altreak had been going smoothly, until a powerful mage beat Igmas into submission in front of his own troops. Sent away with his tail between his legs, Igmas was forced to retreat back to Firaak to dwell on his defeat.
Astrix, King Igmas's son, discovered the truth of what happened to his mother, and confronted the brooding dictator. Further distraught by his son's spurn, Igmas retreated to an unknown land, where none had ever heard of him, so he could sulk in peace.
