Cimar was a low-end import line by Ibanez during the the early-mid 90's! Although they were low-end, they actually were pretty good! The neck is all-maple, maple neck with a maple fretboard, clawesome! The body is some sort of solid wood, probably alder, given it's weight and how extremely tough it is! The previous owner upgraded the tuners to Gotoh, but, he didn't pre-drill the screw holes for the new turners, sadly, so there was a crack that my dad fixed with cabinet maker's glue and clamps. The bass had been played VERY hard, so there are actually a couple of areas on the back of the neck where is worn right through! It's such a perfectly-aged neck, I really like it! The bass was insanely filthy when I got it, it looked like a few people used it as a Kleenex! And when I pulled the pickguard, it smelled like diesel, confirming my suspicion that this bass had been sitting in someone's garage for many years, possibly as a garage band instrument. :P The P/J pick-up configuration gives me tons of tonal variance! This bass actually sounds surprisingly good! It does everything from that thumpy ole traditional precision bass sound to the bright, warm jazz bass sound! Also, holy orange, Batman! It is SO hard to find an orange bass or guitar, so this is really cool! Heh, the combination of the orange body with the white pickguard had me nickname this my creamsicle bass! X3 After thoroughly cleaning this old bass, slapping fresh strings on, and setting it up, also adding strap locks, this thing rocks!
