A dragon may be calm and patient, but even the wise, benevolent ones remember to keep their claws sharp and scales tough. Respect demands a display of power every now and then, after all. One does not simply cross a dragon and expect them to take the insult, challenge or betrayal meekly. Once their wrath is unleashed, there will be little time for regrets.
Looks like even in his agitated state, Arc was composed enough to give you a last warning. It would be a smart choice to heed it...

These aren't love bites. To the contrary, they are rather grievous and bloody. Should have behaved better. And don't you dare pull the braid.

Such, flattery...
Nah, really. Thank you, kind Sir, for your wholesome comment :D A harmless dragon would be a helpless one. A good, civil dragon is one that is very threatening, but keeps his destructive potential under voluntary control. Only with that aura of intimidation can dragon pride remain unscathed and unchallenged. The mental discipline required to rein in one's primal aggression and emotional impulses may also be a sign of courteous, agreeable nature.
In my designs, especially the ones from my lore canon, inspiring admiration, respect or even awe are the primary goals. I'm really glad that Danero's magnificent art manages to capture those feelings ^.=.^
