Welll... one thing i never explained was the Title... Tithe For The Moon Children as a title... it's based on Der Sandmann

In Der Sandmann the protagonist falls in love to an automaton and once revealed she is nothing but a machine and confronted with the fact that he liked her but just because she looked beautiful, he gauges off his eyes offering them in payment to the moon children, who the progeny of the Sandman that live on the moon, which is where he goes to gather the moon rocks that, once ground into sand, allow people to sleep.

Yes, the Sandman children feed on the eyes of those who cannot sleep.

Here the eyes are "metaphorical" expressions of the fears of the man which he will have to confront in the incoming fire.

He was fearful he would be judged for his creation ... aaand the creation ends up saving him.

The "gouging of the eyes" too will be metaphorical as part of the healing process after he gets saved.

Because he basically learns to live without fears anymore thanks to the help of someone who will drive away the fears (not actually sure if she will swat/slap the evil eyes away or actually pop them... that might be... a bit too gory 😂)

That's how part 1 ends...

Then cue part two that ends with him being plunged into the darkness with the staring eyes once more.

But that's just me being an asshole and really mean to my characters, because i personally think healing from a mental condition is not something you do overnight. 😓

Well .. perishing in a fire is a quick (put painful) way to escape embarrassment.
