Dr. Grae Ama is the scientist yoshi at the bottom!
He's into genetic engineering, and after his studies he sets sail to an abandoned island to spend time working on hybridizing different minor life forms.
He created The R34PER, and R4P3, to prepare for the disasters that could come when he started mutating larger life forms.
While living on the island, he finds out that it isn't completely abandoned. A wolf named Yuaad surprises him one day while catching lobsters, buuut eventually they become rather close. (:

Ah, so this is to be a sort of prequel to the Q&A? How very interesting. Even more interesting is that, based on this week's earlier preview work, one cannot help but wonder how the events in Dr. Ama will play into the moment when Cooni, Thanks, and Nishi end up against the R34PER.
Many kudos on the amount of depth you have managed to add to the overall series. Once it is all together in the book, I am certain a full read will leave all those who go through it with much to think about along with a number of reasons to go back and review certain key points in the time-line.
Another fun note, and I don't know if this is where you are going, is how the Alma sections use a different coloring / artistic style than the Q&A series. I feel this creates a special atmosphere for both tales while helping put the reader into a particular mood for the read. Sort of like how The Wizard of Oz starts without color, goes to color, and then ends back in non-color. :)

Mm'hmm! There's a story with Ama, Yuaad, The R34PER and others before the big section with the Q&A, and then there's a second story after Circles which deals more with the situation in the present that involves whoever's left. (:
And I think for Dr. Ama's story, I'm hoping to style it kiiind of like a scientific journal, if possible, where everything'll be more gray, like the character himself. (: At least, where it'll have sketches of him documenting all the different things he's come across, compared to the second story, which will have all the sorta full, color images we've seen so far in a sorta normal story style.

I believe if you can keep up a style similar to what you have here, you'll do very well in portraying a most scientific feel to the overall work. The way you have Alma standing by the container definately gives off a sort of lonesome, yet pondrous, feel. Especially with the coloring and style you used.
Overall, if I think back to a lot scientific journals that I used to shelf, I note how most showed everyone and everything just looking so matter-of-fact and serious. So, if you kind of keep to what you sort of have here, I'd further add you're on track for getting that feel right.

Hehe, I think I'll have to change a bit of what I have of the story so far to make the writing style match the whole science log sorta thing. (: As for the art, I think I'll have to find a way to make it not too boring but still "scientifically accurate" or whatever... it'll be fun finding that fitting place! Woop woop!

Ooh, cool, I had initially thought that Ama would be just something of a random villain in the background, just because he created R34PER, but it looks like he's going to be a more interesting and multifaceted fellow. He makes a convincing science-yoshi! I'm wondering wonder whether Yuaad will be a helpful assistant/defender for him or if she's the sort to sleep all the time or something else. :D
