I really think “Batman Begins” saved the Batman franchise, especially after the “Batman and Robin” movie. Not since Tim Burton did we get such a profound, dark story to do our dark knight justice- and might I add, Christopher Nolan did a fantastic job integrating moral plots into Bruce’s character, which was downplayed- and even lacking- in the other films.
Needles to say, I’m a big supporter of the new franchise!
In this pic you also get a look at my favorite “family” of bats. With over 1,100 species in existence, the Phyllostomidae (leaf nosed bats) are my favorite. Most people like the Fruit bats, Brown Bats, and Egyptian fruits bats because of their “dog” or Rodent-like appearance… but I never understood why someone would like one animal because it resembled something else. If you like dogs, then go like dogs, and if you like rats, then like rats- and leave the bats out of it. Most bats don’t have any semblance to other animals. They are awesome on their own.

Bats are so cuddly! Their anatomy also is just a wonder. Did you know that their artarise are lined with a biological mechanism that pushes the blood in one direction? This to help prevent high blood pressure and blacking out when they hang upside down. Hence, they are not a species that suffer form bad blood pressure! Little wonders of fluff!
*giggles* sounds a bit like giraffe, that has those valves in there major veines and arteiried of the neck, preventing them from getting high blod pressure when they drink!

it took me a moment to figure it out, But I think it's the fact that you can't see Batman's eyes. You can't see what he's thinking, or what he's planning and THAT is what is really drawing me to this image.
It adds to the character of Batman, he looks like a typical villain, dark dress, hides in shadows, etc, but he fights for good. But this is the first time I think i've really seen him, where his eyes are just black, I mean yeah, the cartoons his eyes were white, but white isn't threatening.
You have drawn him, in such a way, that it's hard to tell which side he works for.
And I love how you can't really see where Batman and the Bat stop and start. His shoulder seems to merge into the bat, which seems to merge into Batman.

I'm so glad you see the depth to which I was drawing this! I wanted to have a solemn moment to the Dark Knight where everything in the image is obscured- yet harmonized into one concept. He, the bat, and the cave of bats flying toward the light- and each individual concept neither "good" or "Bad- also obscuring the concepts of what we as a society have regarded as good and evil, or as acceptable or not. I wanted a picture so full or one monotone that it worked to serve a general idea: Bat.
