Kat and Grapleomon collided with an immense amount of rotational energy, sending shockwaves all through the training room as both Anthro tried to overpower the other. Both Kat and Grapleomon had been sparring in the training room of the base for nearly an hour, both throwing multiple attacks at each other as they did their best to get used to their powerful new forms. Kat had incredible speed with Act 1, while Grapleomon had the centripetal force of the turbines on his arms and legs in his ultimate form. A moment of tension passed as Kat and Grapleomon continued their power struggle, until both Anthros broke away from each other simultaneously before they both fell to their knees and tried catching their breath. Kat wiped his drenched forehead with the back of his palm before he looked up to meet eyes with Grapleomon,
"That's enough for now, let's get some water," said Grapleomon before his body was momentarily enveloped with a bright light before the outline of the light shifted and the light cleared entirely to reveal Leomon. Kat nodded and the blue highlights returned to his hair as he got up and followed Leomon to the cool down room, a room full of benches, racks of towels and a large cooler full of bottles of water located off to the side of the training room.
Immediately after Kat sat on the bench, Leomon offered the hybrid a bottle of water, which he graciously accepted before the digimon sat beside him with his own water bottle in one of his large hands. After Leomon took a sip from his bottle, he spoke to Kat,
"Are you making progress on mastering Act 1?" Leomon asked,
"I think so, during training I stayed in that form longer than I ever have before," Kat explained,
"Good, that's progress, similar to how muscles get stronger the more you use them, the longer you can maintain being in Act 1, the more your body will get used to its power," Leomon explained. Kat took another sip of his water before responding,
"Makes sense, what about you though?" Kat asked,
"That was also the longest I've stayed in my Ultimate form," Leomon explained
"So is there going to come a time where you're gonna stay Grapleomon?" Kat asked,
"There should, but that might not be for a while, after all it took me years to get strong enough to continue being Leomon casually," Leomon explained. Kat took a moment to acknowledge his body's soreness setting in before he continued,
"All this talk about forms and getting stronger, what's your strongest form?" Kat asked,
"Not sure, there is no set path for a digimon to follow, countless digimon can potentially digivolve into a few different forms depending on what data they use, as you can see from looking at my brothers and I, we all started as the same kind of Digimon, but when we reached our rookie forms we became very different creatures," Leomon explained,
"I see," Kat commented,
"Though based on history, the forms I may assume as my Mega form are SaberLeomon, Leopardmon, or perhaps even BanchoLeomon," Leomon explained,
"BanchoLeomon? What's that one like?" Kat asked,
"BanchoLeomon are amazing warriors with gakurans draped over their shoulders," Leomon explained,
"Gakuran?" Kat inquired,
"They're like japanese school uniforms, BanchoLeomon are basically like punks with a sense of justice," Leomon explained. Upon hearing Leomon's explanation Kat's eyes lit up,
"You should go for that form then! It sounds cool, and in a team called- "The Anthros of Justice", it'd fit right in!" Said Kat excitedly, causing Leomon to chuckle,
"I can try, though I can't make any promises," said Leomon before he gulped down the rest of his water and gave a satisfied sigh. Leomon then attempted to toss his empty bottle into the nearby trash can, but he narrowly missed it, causing the digimon to let out a frustrated sigh before he did a walk of shame to pick up his bottle and properly put it into the trash before returning to Kat’s side,
“What about you though?” Leomon asked, causing Kat to tilt his head,
“What do you mean?” Kat inquired,
“The form you unlocked, it’s called “Act 1: Speed Demon” right?” Leomon asked,
“Yeah,” Kat replied casually,
“So then there are more powerful forms to come then?” Leomon inquired,
“That’s right,” Kat replied,
“How many?” Leomon asked,
“Four Acts total” Elster informed Kat mentally,
“Four Acts total, so I’ve got three to go” Kat relayed vocally to the lion,
“With how amazing Act 1’s power is, I can’t wait to see how powerful Act 4 is,” said Leomon happily,
“Heh, you and me both, but it’s gonna take me a while before I can handle power like that,” said Kat before he drank the rest of his water. Kat then skillfully tossed his water bottle into the trash,
“Wow, even though I’m a more experienced hero than you, there are some things you exceed me on,” Leomon commented,
“It was just tossing trash,” Kat replied,
“Not just that, the fact that you were able to take down a powered up Von Bloot," Leomon elaborated,
"Well I probably wouldn't have made it to him if you guys didn't fend off his lackeys," Kat explained,"
"Still, there are some days when I feel like my power and contributions are inadequate, and the mission in Underworld City highlighted that" Leomon explained,
"Hey now, where is all this coming from? I think you're an amazing hero, and if the Underworld City mission highlighted anything, it was that you're stronger than you give yourself credit for, didn't you save Jon promptly after Digivolving?" Kat asked,
"Well yes, but-" Leomon tried replying, though Kat cut him off,
"Then what's the problem? You're a good hero Leomon, never let anyone tell you otherwise," said Kat as he patted Leomon on his back,
"I suppose you're right, thanks Kat," said Leomon with a smile. Leomon then got off the bench,
"Do you feel better now?" Kat asked,
"I do, let's get back to training, we still have a long way to go," Said Leomon as he hurried back to the training room, Kat smiled and followed after him.

Meanwhile, worlds away from the base, a large bear-like creature with blue and white fur, brown eyes and large orange antlers was in the middle of a lengthy journey. The creature trekked through a forest with snow blanketing the ground as more snow lightly fell from the sky, though fortunately the creature was quite used to travelling through snowy areas. The creature in question was a Furok, a dream creature from part of a split reality world known as the Moonlands, though not just any Furok, this Furok used to be partnered with a Magi known as Tony Jones, a smart and creative boy from the human world of the split reality. Though due to tragic events transpiring, Tony couldn’t be Furok’s magi any longer, so the dream creature had set out to find someone else he could deem worthy to be his magi.
As Furok continued his trek through the frozen forest, he noticed someone standing in the middle of a clearing, it was an individual wearing a black cloak which entirely hid their body. Out of curiosity and a strong desire for interaction that travelling alone for a long time can cause, Furok decided to approach the cloaked individual very carefully. When Furok was only three meters away from the individual he spoke up,
“Uh… hey there, can you help me?” Furok inquired, the stranger responded with a thick silence and a refusal to acknowledge Furok,
“I checked out this world to search for someone who could become my magi, but after searching for a while I decided that no one would stay in a world like this where everything is cold and dangerous,” Furok explained only to once again receive silence as a response,
“Unless you’d like to be my magi, of course I’d need to get to know you a bit better first, and if you’re not interested, which I would understand, then I’d appreciate if you could just tell me where the nearest gate out of this world is,” Furok explained. After yet another bit of silence, Furok sighed,
“You don’t want to talk to me, I get it, I’m sorry for bothering you,” said Furok as he began to walk away though stopped in his tracks when he saw the cloaked individual pull out a rifle and turn around. Furok’s eyes were wide with surprise, the individual moved so quickly he barely had time to react before they fired their gun, supposedly at Furok since it was pointed in the same general direction. Furok had anticipated the bullet hitting him, though was surprised to instead hear a whimper, followed by the sound of something falling to the snow. Furok turned around to see a wolf with snow white hair, red eyes and cyan teeth, dead on the ground behind him,
“Frostbite…” said the individual, finally speaking up, and revealing themself to have a feminine sounding voice. Furok’s attention returned to the woman,
“Huh?” Furok inquired,
“That creature, it was a frostbite, basically a wolf-like monster whose teeth and claws are endowed with a powerful ice magic, one touch and you’ll get.. Well, frostbite,” the cloaked woman explained as she put away her rifle,
“Ah I see, I didn’t even notice it,” Furok commented,
“They are quite stealthy given that their snow white fur blends in with their surroundings” the cloaked woman explained, she spoke with an unsettlingly casual tone,
“Well regardless you helped me out, and I appreciate it,” Furok commented with a smile,
“You said that you were looking for someone,” the woman commented, causing Furok’s eyes to widen,
“Oh, so you did hear me..” Furok commented,
“Yes, though I was deep in thought, I am also looking for someone, though unlike you, I know precisely who I’m looking for, and where to find him,” the woman explained,
“Ah I see, sounds like you’re quite lucky,” Furok commented,
“Is luck truly a real concept? Or is all life predetermined to follow a single linear path?” the woman asked,
“Uh.. I dunno, I was never much of a philosopher..” Furok explained,
“You will find someone who can help you if you follow me to Orion City,” the woman explained,
“Oh really? Wow thanks I appreciate the help… gosh I just realized I never introduced myself, my name is-” said Furok, though he ceased speaking with the woman held up one of her gloved hands and shook it in a gesture to signal stopping,
“Don’t tell me your name, there would be no point to it, we are fated to meet only a few times, each meeting fairly brief. So let’s make our way out of this world without any further holdups” the woman instructed as she started walking. Furok quickly followed after the woman and tried talking to her,
“So are you like a seer or something?” Furok asked,
“Let’s just say- I’m pretty close to someone who knows the future,” the woman explained as she continued leading Furok.

Within the walls of the castle belonging to the Syndicate of Malevolence, the aforementioned infamous group were gathered around a large table (save for Dio) as they began a meeting,
“Thank you all for coming, I’d like to start this meeting off by explaining that Von Bloot is no longer with us, I’m sure no one will miss him, though I still wanted to explain to avoid confusion,” Mumm-Ra explained,
“Hah, Good riddance, that harpy was dead weight!” said Grumm happily with his usual deep and raspy voice,
“Yes, though I wouldn’t have put together a meeting just to tell you about him, I also wanted to explain some new information I came across, and a new plan I’m putting into motion,” Mumm-Ra explained. Mewtwo’s eyes suddenly lit up with a light blue psychic energy,
“Does this have to do with the intruder I sensed earlier?” Mewtwo asked,
“Somewhat, I’ll get to her in due time, for now, I wanted to talk about the feline hybrid in that Anthros of Justice team,” Mumm-Ra explained,
“I could’ve sworn that the last meeting talked about that feline as well,” Myotismon commented,
“It did, I had a feeling that the hybrid had the potential to help me with my plans, and I was right. From watching over Von Bloot’s final mission, I learned something very interesting, the hybrid has incredible potential within him. The vortexes of dark energy from which he can draw weapons from, he recently drew powerful and iconic weapons from them!” Mumm-Ra explained excitedly,
“So you figure it’s very possible that he’d be able to get you a gauntlet of Plundarr with all the power stones in it,” Pyron commented,
“Exactly, think of the possibilities if we were to be able to harness the hybrid’s power!” said Mumm-Ra excitedly,
“How do you suppose we harness his power though? From what I’ve seen he holds a great deal of loyalty to the Anthros of Justice,” Mewtwo commented,
“I’m aware of that myself, but I’ve thought of a possible solution, which doubles as a new weapon at our disposal,” Mumm-Ra explained before he snapped his fingers.
Suddenly the doors to the hallway swung open, revealing two of Mumm-Ra’s lizard soldiers holding up a woman with long dark hair fixed into a ponytail, wearing revealing green clothing that covered her hands and forearms, most of her legs save for her thighs, her torso and groin, and a veil that covered her mouth. As the soldiers escorted her closer to the table Mumm-Ra kept talking,
“Caught her sneaking into the castle, from what I can understand, her name is Akali, The Rogue Assassin,” Mumm-Ra explained,
“How did she manage to get inside the pocket dimension that houses the castle?” Myotismon inquired,
“No one is entirely sure, there’s speculation that she snuck in with some of our troops as they were returning to the castle, but nothing is confirmed right now,” Mumm-Ra explained,
“People are hiring assassins to take us out now? How cute,” Grumm inquired flippantly,
“Who told you to come here girl?” Myotismon inquired,
“No one, no one tells me what to do, not anymore,” Akali replied with a glare,
“So you just came here on a whim then?” Mewtwo asked,
“Why I came here is none of your concern,” Akali replied,
“Well what should be one of your concerns is what I’m about to do to you,” Mumm-Ra explained with a grin, though Akali simply shrugged,
“Do your worst you bag of bones, you won’t be getting any information from me,” said Akali confidently. Mumm-Ra then cackled as he reached a hand towards Akali,
“Behold, the newest spell I’ve developed,” said Mumm-Ra as his hand became enveloped by a bubbling black magic, causing the other members of the syndicate to gain interest in their looks as they continued observing,
“Ancient spirits of evil, may the one before me do my bidding for as long as they bear the mark I am about to bestow!” said Mumm-Ra before he tapped Akali’s shoulder, causing a wave of dark magic to flow from the tapped spot and throughout Akali’s body. Akali’s winced in pain as her body convulsed, the lizardmen unceremoniously released her and allowed her to fall to the ground as the dark magic continued working its way through the assassin’s body, Akali did her best to quiet her cries, but given how painful the experience was, she couldn’t help but let out a few audible groans. The process continued for less than half a minute, though to Akali who felt an agonizing amount of pain, it felt as though it lasted so much longer. After a while, Akali stood up, revealing a new mark that depicted two conjoined serpentines tangled together and hissing at each other on her left shoulder, Akali also revealed her eyes to reveal they were a deep red now. Upon seeing Akali, Mumm-Ra’s grin widened,
“Akali, who tells you what to do?” Mumm-Ra asked,
“You of course, Mumm-Ra,” Akali replied,
“It works! The Mark of Malevolence! It works! I hope you’re ready heroes, because the Syndicate just got a lot deadlier!” said Mumm-Ra happily before he began laughing maniacally, the other members of the Syndicate soon joining him when they thought of the benefits that the mark would create for them. Haunting laughter echoed around the castle as the Syndicate rejoiced in the creation of Mumm-Ra’s new spell, and the potential it created.
