Plum could have started off at a higher rank given her participation in the rebellion against the original ruler of the Tasty Kingdom. She chose to start at a lower tier and prove herself instead. Part of her reasoning is proving that she can rise up through the ranks properly. With the legacy of her mother riding on her back constantly she knows people expect great things from her.
