One one hand Pixi trusts Carlos so much that she feels completely safe sleeping on his pillow right next to his face, even knowing that he's a predatory demon.
But on the other hand Carlos is aware of their size difference and is afraid he's going to hurt her accidentally.
He keeps opening one eye to check on her and make sure she's still safe.
