Pencil on paper, ~ 7x5 inches.
This is what happened when I watched Nanook of the North (a 1922 silent documentary, considered rather unethical in its framing by modern standards but still very compelling). I was interested in how the women would carry their young children in their hoods, so I drew this unfinished polar bear in the kinds of clothes - the thick dark close-furred coat, the white long-furred pants, and slick dark boots - that I saw in the documentary. It was drawn from memory so of course it misses a few details. My friend asked me "It's a polar bear wearing FUR?" Yeah, I know, but I just don't like drawing people that much.
