It's just a matter of what tool set you use and how you apply them. Try using different size brushes and different types in various combinations. Here's a suggestion: Draw a picture with very harsh contrast lighting in it, so the shadows would be very crisp and definite. Keep experimenting!
Hmmm I think I might do that... Thank you for the helpful tip! ^_^ Usually i am just too lazy to do anything, and the picture turns out amazing. And when I try, The piece ends up looking worse lol. My mom sent one of my worse pieces to this artist (my family has connections, APPARENTLY) and he said that I had a talent for drawing different kinds of expressions... LOL.
