"Damn-damn that mage mouse Skrell! Grey Seer think he can lash with hit-pain and take all credit for win-win? Let that warpstone drunk take the march-front and trip over tail."
-A silent prayer of Warlord Kravelik
The Grey Seers of Skavendom are a unifying force next to the Lords of Decay and the Council of 13. At least, that is what they claim to be. The sorcerers of the Great Horned Rat bear the same mental vestiges of others within their race. As such, many are doomed to the selfish egocentric motivations of any man-rodent of the Under Empire.
Count the hairless one, Skrell, among them.
He deploys as an envoy to influence or lead clans under the machinations of his betters. At least, that is what he wants his superiors to think. In truth, the oft discordant plans of his self-serving fellows are so inferior to his vision. Without unification there is no chance to conquer the surface. The filth of man-things, knife-ears, and thing-dwarfs will continue to trample above unabated. Yes, it is up to him to bring Skavendom together. The Great Horned One chose him. It is only proper that his scheming and manipulation bestow him the reward of unquestioned leadership.
His unorthodox preaching during the daily mass is not so much filled with the usual fear mongering of the one god. No, he teaches that the conniving wishes of the heart are the true prayers to the Great Horned One. Coaxed with his proper guidance, it is this shared contradicting trait among Skaven that will ascend them as a single force. A few pre-planned stabbings of treachery during the mass always validates his point. (It also keeps the occasion from becoming a vanilla affair.)
Sure, others observe that he ingests more than the norm of warpstone. Yes, he may be insulted behind his back for his acquired . . . lack of fur. Of course, they might think he is constantly warp-drunk from his varied antics. However, warpstone brings true focus. That ever-present scent on his earring is a constant reminder.
It is absolute certainty that his fellow mage rats are envious of him. He bears the skull of his mentor upon his flail. Skrell was taught by his mystic master that a good beating can get you anywhere. And so, he is happy to convey that teaching (and his own past resentment) to others.
Now! As for unity. Where to begin anew? For the life of him he can't keep two clans together for all of a season. He needs to figure out what devious rival lurks in the shadows. Yes, surely such an individual exists and has been ruining his plans all along . . .
