Last week, my aunt and I had been to Oristano in Sardinia just in time for their carnival, Sa Sartiglia, a masked horse race in which the horsemen must unhook with a small sword on a galoping horse a star, the more stars will be unhooked the better the harvest will be. The master of la Sartiglia is su Componidori, a deity neither man or woman, half man half woman, whom if they don't unhook the star foreshadow a bad year. No horseman must go down their horse from sunrise to sunset or calamities will happen
