This is a depiction of the assassin from this pic. Here's the story leading up to it:
After killing an enemy for a merchant, our assassin returns to his home. He, shortly after, receives a visit from the merchant who hired him. He requests payment while going about his normal routine. The merchant has other ideas.
"Yes, about the payment, I have been considering this. You have done a favour for me. Perhaps I can return the favour and we can consider my debt to you paid. You see, it occurs to me, that I know your face. I know where you live. I know your routine. It also seems that it would be quite... profitable, to share this information with certain others. I am taking a major loss by not sharing the information I have, but, as a favour to you, I will restrain myself. Does this sound equitable?"
Our assassin sniffs the air, smelling the bread he bakes for supper. He inhales deeply and in the space of this breath, he gives his answer without looking up.
"No. We agreed upon a price. You will pay that price," he pulls the loaf from the tiny clay oven and places it on a slab to slice.
"What is this?" the merchant now beginning to anger, the flush showing even through his dust coloured fur. "I tell you that I can sell your name and safety to another and you prefer coin? What good is coin if one is not alive to spend it?"
"Let me explain," the small white furred cat said quietly, still not looking up, examining the crust of his bread loaf, "I do a job for you. You pay me the agreed price. You go home."
"You are not taking this seriously! I don't believe you understand the situation! I hold your life in my hands yet you spare me not the tiniest scrap of notice! You will look at me when I speak to you!"
