My midterm for a Gothic class. The item turned in was the eyepatch, which is made of100% human hair, delicious. The class had to explore themes of Goth that weren't stereotypical. Had fun playing around with makeup :3
summary below:
Taking inspiration from Japanese ghost stories and idols, my midterm revolves around the theme of bondage and how hair can be used in this manner. The Japanese superstition of hair is: when you wash your hair and close your eyes, a ghost is watching you. Hair and nails are a dead part of the human body, we are constantly growing it; so logically death comes from within. The eye patch is an unconscious form of bondage. The item wraps around the head and holds the eye socket in place, keeping it immobile, disciplined. Combining the idea of death as hair and bondage as a restriction on the living flesh creates the suspension of life and death that runs deep in the philosophy behind Goth.
I guess this counts as anthro! Mreow.
