Went to Great Cats World Park (http://greatcatsworldpark.com/) this weekend with my dearest
rotor and my roomies
coyotoy and
redXIX.
This isn't my favorite photo of the batch, but it was an awesome moment. SnowCat got all wigged out when I squatted down to take a photo of him, but it was awesome being engaged like that even though he was making an obvious wtf >:I face.. (the cats at the park are -trained- to ignore visitors).
Just had to share! Wish the photo was better, but my camera is only so great X)

Dude, I usually frown at animals (especially ones as intelligent as cats) being kept in cages, but the place these guys are kept is awesome. They're encouraged (with delicious chunks of raw meat) to engage in their "natural" behaviors, and they're often taken out for photo shoots out in the mountains or in the forest. In my mind, this park takes giving the cats the best life possible very seriously, and I think they do an outstanding job doing so.
I know what you mean. I went to a wolf preservation park this past summer, in Wisconsin. In Wisconsin, any wolf needs to be kept inside of a double-cage and there's all sorts of crazy things that must be followed... but this facility does their best to give the animals plenty of free space to roam. Even private areas of their cages where they can hide from visitors if they're not feeling sociable. It's still a bit disheartening to see any caged animal, but it's clear to see that the people who work at the facility are dedicated to giving them as much as they can. They're all very passionate about conservation and education, as well.
